Hey Everyone!

I need some help when it comes to the database side of things.
So I am in the middle of planning to set up a "CallofDuty" community site to target the video games niche.

I am using WordPress for the design and using a pre-made template. I want to target both the UK and the US and make some money by promoting games and gaming related products through an affiliate scheme.

I have signed up for two different affiliate programs, one offers products in the UK, the other for the US. I want to have a UK side of the website and a US, the content will be exactly the same apart from the affiliate products I will be promoting.

My plan is to have the "index page" as a page where you can choose your country. If you select the US you would then be taking to "websiteurl/US". If you select the UK you could be taken to "websiteurl/UK". It would be the same theme, same content only difference would be the affiliate offer like I said.

I want to know is it possible to use the same database for both these WordPress installations. I hope all this makes sense!

Thanks in advance, Joe

Thank you! One quick question, can I do this will all themes ? I think I have heard multi-site before (I don't know I didn't think of it LOL) I'm sure I heard someone complaining that it didn't work with some themes. I hope I am wrong

I chose entrepreneurship over further education despite being laughed at by my friends and family..

I recently hit the "RESTART" button on my life, read my personal blog to find out how I did it :)

I think, it can be done with Just one wordpress, one installation....
    and a custom plugin...

which have both US and UK affiliates links stored into it,
and changes it on the fly in your content pages as per the User's chosen country.

You do not need another installation of the wordpress.
Also with multi-site option, you will need to post same content twice.
And also this can affect your SEO, as being duplicate pages with same content.

I am thinking if some plugin with this functionality exist already so you can use
that free (which for now i cannot think of, maybe some other Warrior have used
some plugin like that ....?) otherwise you may need to get it custom coded by some
wordpress developer. If needed I can help you with this, you can send me PM to discuss,
also you may browse the WP plugin directory and maybe you find something close listed there.

    With Best Regards,

Definitely the easy way, however I will just say make the prefix something meaningful to the name of the site, call it "inline documentation" if you will to cover yourself if one site stops being used later etc... it will be clear which tables in the database are relevant.

I would be very careful when attempting this. Make sure you back up your current sites/dbs and perform daily/weekly backups just to play it safe.
