hello everyone,
Ok hopefully someone SPECIAL can help me with my problem. I have been having the worst luck just making simple changes do a TEMPLATE. So here goes my problem. I'm building a website of course & I wanted to know how do most people place images on their landing pages from the merchant's site. Problem is my website background is green and when i try to paste another image from the merchant site their is some white space around the image so it looks tacky. I tried to use dreamweaver to edit the template but I couldn't even use space between text. also when i posted an image I couldnt type text RIGHT next to the image, i had to type either below or under the image. I'm using microsoft expression now so will I have the same problem? I want to put space between text and type next to images. How does everyone put items on their landing page, do they crop the images? I have a few questions guy, hope you can answer.
Thanks Everyone

Oh Dear! To answer your problem is going to be very long winded.

First off, You need to know a little bit about html, tables, layers or even css and if you do not know this then it is not very easy to do what you want to do.

Second the template you have tried to edit is it purely a html template or is it part html and part css.

The reason for this is that when you design a website you have to do things in certain ways that html or css will understand.

To make things simple why don't you change the background color to white then the edges will not be seen.

To place images and text in certain positions you have to use tables or layers! there is no way around this no matter what program you use.

The best thing I can suggest if you are knew to website designing is go to google and just type in "website design video tutorials for beginners".

or try the link at the bottom.

You will then have a selection of tutorial videos to choose from.

Just test each one to see what the tutorials are like and if they are teaching what you want then stay if not go to the next tutorial.

They will usually have a list of tutorials so select the one you need from their menus.

I think that will be quicker.

Try this W3Schools Online Web Tutorials

    Hope that helps.

    Paul.

I would stay away for using tables in your design as these are not really liked by designers anymore and as the web standards continue to move forward, you are going to want to use the CSS box model for designing.

    CSS is great!

Basically you design everything in a box. The screen is the big box, then a centered page is a smaller one and then each element on the page is a smaller box. The all fit inside of each other.

With CSS, you can even have one box overlap another for some cool effects.

I design all the time and HTML and CSS together make a very powerful combination..... I would getting yourself a designer to help you OR start to learn these technologies. As mentioned above, w3schools.com has a number of free tutorials and will help you to learn these languages....

    Have a Great Day!
