Hi everyone,

I am in need of an expert to help me to figure out why my website is so slow, this is the website:

Which Laptop - Independent Laptop Review Site

As you can see the site is very slow at loading and I am unsure why, but need help in solving this issue.

Could anyone help me?

Thank you!

It's probably slower because you're making 94 HTTP requests to load the page.

Without logging into your site to see what all you have going on, I would say that you probably have too many Database requests going on at the same time as having your 94 HTTP requests.

This may have to do with the theme you chose, Ratius <- That demo page for your theme has 160 HTTP requests and it's slightly slow to load too.

Are you using any caching for your Java & CSS files?

I have started using WP-SuperCache, however I am not sure how effective it has been.

The site loaded fine for me. I checked the Page Speed score, it's 90/100 which is pretty good. I don't think you have any major concern area for your site.

The site is still loading very slowly, I really need some help with this.

Google is lying with it's page speed tool because it's loading awfully slow in the UK - I have page speeds in Analytics yesterday of 69 seconds for IE and 19 seconds for Firefox!

Try getting rid of some of your latest and newest laptops. Don't be afraid to make a few more pages.

  • You need to optimize your images. You can use CSS Sprites.

You should reduce the image quality - most important. If you are using photoshop, try to save the quality from medium to high thats between 5-8 when saving as Jpeg format.

Lessen the number of posts in homepage, better if you can see the whole website in just 1 scroll. Make it balance. Check the length of your sidebar, it should be same in your posts so it will load faster and will look more good.

Remove the feature review and latest review. Not necessary, you have slider and laptop reviews already.

If you can put the pages in footer (if you know how to code) do it, remove the content in your footer widget. Put the search in the sidebar before Socialize.

If you have installed some plugins you are not using, please deactivate it.

If you want to ask more questions about wordpress, just let me know.

  • Willyboy104,

I agree with ArcherWylde, you have a lot of http requests. There are dozens of style sheets and js docs that are linked to your site. If at all possible, try combining some of those. You could also check to see if you are serving scaled images since your design is so image intensive.

That said, I also tested your pages speed and it only took 5 seconds to load. Could be faster but I think your issue is somewhere else.

Here are some ideas on increasing page speed,

Also, Google’s page speed tool may be touchy sometimes but it can give you good ideas of things that may need to be tweaked,

    Hope that helps you,

Check the size of your images, they could be unecessarily large. Also, check your .htaccess file. If it is empty then that is not the issue
