Hey there.

My host is offering me Cloudflare for free, but I have no clue if I should get this or not.

It's Hostmonster by the way, shared hosting account.

Am I depending on a 3th party service if I agree to get this, so they can charge me later on without that I can step out.

Guess, I'm a tech idiot and could not get smart reading the terms of the offer. All I understood was that it seams more secure and offers faster site speed.

Any feedback appreciated.

G.

Please be aware that CloudFlare is not the "cloud". CloudFlare is a CND, which has a free account to begin with. Your web host has most likely just now joined their program which they can offer CloudFlare from inside the control panel.

We have it as well, inside our cPanel for all of our shared/reseller customers. There will always be a free account.

CloudFlare has a number of features that you can benefit from. Caching static content is only one of them. I'd suggest you take a look at their site: http://www.cloudflare.com

      Hey, thanks for that

But is it WORTH IT from a tech point of view?

        Sure, no problem at all.

Yes, CloudFlare is definitely worth it & I'm sure Damon will be here shortly to explain in more detail than I can. Just from the caching standpoint, you can save tons of bandwidth & serve content faster. If a CloudFlare datacenter is closer to your viewer than your server, the content will be served from there, which will cut the load times. If your web host has the cPanel CloudFlare option integrated, it's just a click to get it enabled. Once it's setup, you'll also have an account with CloudFlare where you can enable/disable additional features & apps.

More than happy to answer any questions about CloudFlare. The short answer is that CloudFlare will help speed up your site & add an additional layer of protection to your site.

Nowadays maximum scams are conducted from web hosting websites. So make sure to read there terms and condition, up time etc details before spending money on it.
