Free pictures for blog (plugin)?

Hi,

I have a wordpress blog for a specific hobby. Do you know any plugins I can use to easily insert royalty free images?
I've found a plugin, called Foter, but are you really allowed to use other peoples pictures, for example from flickr on your own blog, when having ads on it?

Thanks, guys.

Best regards,
Thomas

Whether you have ads on your blog or not has NOTHING to do with the use of copyrighted material.

Every piece of intellectual property (a photo, an article, a software, a book, a song etc.) is copyrighted by default and without the explicit permission of the copyright holder you can NOT use it. Nobody can, for that matter!

Why do you think a plugin can be smarter than your own common sense?
No plugin can ever distinguish between images that you are allowed to use (e.g. public domain or under Creative Commons license) and images that would result in you being sued for thousands of dollars...

I also use the "Foter" but i think manual proces is better than the plugin . If so you have the control on those image . but try to use non copyrighted Element .

Thanks for your replies. I'm totally aware that you cannot use copyrighted material.
I was thinking more that some sites that offer content, say that you can use this on non-commercial sites only. So I was just thinking whether a site with affiliate links or adsense is regarded as a commercial site or not.

Regarding using images from flickr. Can you do that, and is it legal?

    Thanks.

What I know is there are content owners on Flickr that are content (no pun intended) with just crediting them as the owner of the picture.

The best thing to do is to ask permission to the author that you'll use his picture on your site. Also ask what are his terms for you to be able to use his photo.

If he wants to be paid, he deserves that, if he is happy with you just crediting him by putting a caption "photo by #flickr_user", then congrats!

There are lots of websites where you can download photos for free without worrying about copyright. You can find photos that are public domain, which means they have no copyright. There might be a little harder to find on the web but are accessible. Most of the time all you have to do is credit the photographer but you are free to use to images.

^^ this is as wrong as it can get. Crediting the author/photographer does NOT mean you can use it for free!
