Its very plain, the old adage a picture says a 1000 words comes to mind. Its easy to follow along and use however. You just going to monetize with adsense?

ok.. just been through the other sites. If the aim is purely to guide users to the ads then you have succeeded.

It's boring and seems like it all just blends together into a blur. Nothing pops at me. In general, I'm a fan of simplistic design. I would say add some images. If you want to sty with a simple professional look, consider using black and white "featured image" headers on your posts. Personally, I'd go with a splash of color like a bright to offset the subdued blue. Very neat and organized though.

My target is fairly broad I think. The site can be about anything I feel like posting there. That was my plan.

Its like words on a paper. You need to introduce a different colored nav bar or something to get rid of the plainness of the site. But if you did it to direct their attention to the ads, then youre in a good place.

Hello there!
All of the websites look the same-- plain and white. Sorry about that. But it is not just visually appealing as what websites should be. You can utilize some graphics and place pictures in your contents too. try to be more creative at least in your header. Formulate a specific color theme for each website and look for graphics that will compliment it.

Think about say car, jewelery, clothing, or any other manufacturers - they sell very specific products to very specific markets.... there's no broad base, because there's no one-size-fits-all.

Choose a tightly targeted market niche, become successful, then expand according to customer's specific needs

I agree with salelink above that this is a boring design for Kokyunage website. This is the age of image, people do not want to read, they want images and images. A lot of words will push your visitors away from your site. You'd better redesign it.
Wordpress has a lot of free themes where you can add images into your posts. You may want to consider it.
There is a trend for a homepage with huge banner (which include 5-7 big images). This is very eye-catching. You should try it Michael.

So there is a consensus somewhat... definitely more graphics and possibly more color, and possibly get new themes all together.

Graphics take so much work and I don't enjoy working with them too much. I usually go look for public domain images on Wikimedia Commons to use, but that takes time. Then I have to edit them and add them on. Maybe I should hire someone to do all this eventually. Lolol.

I can tell these are wordpress using pagelines framework, right? so modification is easy. it has built in layout manager, you just need to be creative.
from a designer point of view, good title is good title. maybe enchance your blog title with graphics.
and for the rest, as I stated above, you can get ideas from pagelines main site. there's a showcase page there. Look what others have done with their website.

Site is very simple and just can see the post updated well color and theme is chosen not so much good. Attraction is not there while opening the site. Very dull theme is chosen
