Best FREE autoresponder for wordpress?

I have no problems going to a paid company in the future but as I am just starting out and want to be able to email people a FAQ right away when they ask for it, I would like a free autoresponder for now.

Hopefully I would be able to transfer a list of email addresses to a better, paid service in the future. I do not plan on using this to mail affiliate links. (I know some free services will not allow you to do that) I mainly just want it to function as an autoresponder and build and hold a list of double opted in emails for future use so that I can start building a list as early as possible.

Any suggestions? My apologies if this is in the wrong section. I debated on which to post it in. If you know of a good one that you want to give me an affiliate link for you can PM me. I know affiliate links are not allowed on the main boards.

Thanks in advance

Honestly, your best bet is to move away from an email autoresponder altogether!

I would look at a mobile autoresponder service such as Mobile Autoresponder (Mobile Autoresponder - #1 Web to Text and Short Code SMS Autoresponder) instead.

There are some great free Autoresponder plugins out there but make sure that your server/hosting can handle it.

I have used WP Autoresponder And Newsletter Plugin in the past and it worked fine. You may also try MailPress.

Let me say this Arkham - start your business the right way and some areas for cost cutting measures just aren't an option from a Wordpress perspective:

    - Email services (still the KILLER APP for marketing)
    - Premium Themes
    - Custom domain name
    - Paid hosting

Just my advice having attempted what you are now 6 years ago and fell FLAT on my face. No one took me seriously because truthfully, based on trying to save money (as are you), I didn't take myself so.

Listen. You are going to have to get a paid service in the end...whether you self-host or go for a 3rd party service. If you move to a paid service later, you may not be able to import all of the subscribers you are working hard to get now.

My advice is grab a free account for a month at GetResponse. It is head & shoulders above everything else out there IMO.

If you set up your funnel right you will be making money as you build your list - far more than the bit of money GR will levy in 30 days time.

I am just finishing a training product on this. Don't mess-arse around. get a free GetResponse account today and you will not look back. Really!

I decided to go the free WP autoresponder route just for now because Im not sure how fast my list will grow. I have paid for a premium theme, paid hosting and everything else and very soon I will pay for a professional autoresponder. I am just experimenting with this for now. So far it is working great and I have two optins.

My only question is how to get it to stop sending out newsletters of every post I make? I cant seem to find an option to turn this off anywhere?
