Hi All,

I currently use dreamweaver 8 on a laptop to design and I am wanting to expand my website design abilities. I am about to purchase a new computer which will have Windows Vista on it. I have heard that Dreamweaver 8 has all kinds of performance issues when used on a windows vista computer. If I get Dreamweaver cs4 installed on the new computer . Can I design a site on dw8 and then load it across to dwcs4 and work on it in that programme. Also if any knows what is the learning curve between dw8 and cs4. If you know dw8 can you pick up cs4 quickly.

Thanks in advance

Peter Thompson

No experience with the new version, but I use DW8 on Vista Home Premium with never a problem.

You should be able to load Dreaweaver 8 work in CS4.

CS4's layout will be slightly different compared with 8, but if you're happy with 8, and it appears it works on Vista, stick with that (or try a CS4 trial first?)

I HAD CS4 on my Vista System but removed it as the Editor had a problem... If you read the support forums on Adobe, you will see I am not the only one...

The problem was when editing code I would often use the Shift + Arrow keys to highlight a section of code to remove or replace.... This is only in Code View.... The editor would not allow me to select more than a single character.

When I first installed CS4 it worked fine for a few days and then the problem started with the editor... I thought at first that maybe I had pressed some strange key combo that had done this and pulled my hair for a couple of days and then found a number of designers were having the same problem I was having....

I removed it from my system and went back to CS3 which I find runs well for me.

At the time, Adobe had just layoff some 250 developers, so the forum was kind of negative about the chance of a bug fix coming out anytime soon....

    Have a Great Day!

you'll have no problem with DW CS4. I use DW8 and am using the trial version of CS4. In many ways, CS4 makes things easier and can save you time. The special spry ad ons are cool.

But unless you need the Spry tools, you can stick with DW8 I think.
