Hi, my WP visual editor hasn't worked since I a)updated the BPS security plug-in and b) installed/uninstalled the Google Doc Embedder yesterday. I'm not sure which of these has caused the problem but need to find a WP expert who can help.

I can add a post and a title but the visual editor and permalink editors are not working, ditto for pages. Help!! (My other sites are fine)

Can anyone suggest a WP developer who might be able to help?

Thanks!

Try to disable all the plugins, and then activate one by one to find the culprit plugin.

This can be caused by any plugin, so you need to find out which plugin is causing it.

WOW BPS is always a problem. I consulted a WP expert and they were not able to hel p either I ended up having to install a new version of WordPress, and never used them anymore.

I too would like to hear an answer to this as well. But the earlier post of Warriors for hire may be the best solution, or either fiverr

Post your issue on Odesk or Elance.com and you are sure to get a number of contractors oferring to fix it . Look at their ratings and track record before choosing one .

Remember some contractors just apply for a job without even reading the job requirements or if it even fits their skill set . So take note of what they say in their replies and whether their track record shows them as wordpress experts

Did you check under Users -> <your username> that the Visual Editor is not disabled? Or are you missing the entire editor completely, including HTML and visual?

Once you verify from your user profile that you have not disabled visual editing, and you indentify a plugin as the source of the problem, this may help...

WordPress version 3.5 uses the a newer version of the jQuery library (version v1.8.3) than prior Wordpress versions employed.

If the plugin is hard-coding an older copy of the jquery library, there's a good possibility that it conflicts with the newer one already on the editor page. I had that issue with one of my own plugins that was causing similar issues.

The solution is for the developer to use the wp_enqueue_script() method to load the wordpress jquery library rather than loading his own copy.

A possible cause is the .htaccess file that BPS writes in the wp-admin folder. It has been causing problems since the WP 3.5 update. If that file exists, rename it and check check to see if the problem still exists.

AND - always, always clear your browser cache and cookies before trying to troubleshoot any WordPress issues, and clear them again before each round of changes that you attempt.
