Godaddy And Optimizepress

I just created a new Wordpress install on one of my few domains (unfortunate enough) to still be using Godaddy hosting. The install actually worked, however - the second I installed the Optimizepress theme - I have a system 500 internal server.

Anyway, I have started the "big deal" that is contacting support with Godaddy, and I still have 11 hours until they even look at my question. So I was wondering if anyone here might know of any problems between Godaddy and Optimizepress?

It might not be an option, but it would probably take you less time to just move the hosting for that domain to a non-GD account than it will to troubleshoot the issue. Especially so since it's likely that GD's arcane 'go our own way' server setups are creating the problem. GD is well-known for being non-friendly to WP sites, especially when plugins need to use anything other than simplistic server directives in .htaccess files.

Just an FYI, if you call our support is open 24/7 to review right away with you. We do have error logs on our hosting accounts though to help you identify why these erros may be occurring. To ensure they are enabled please follow: Working with Error Logs | Go Daddy Help | Go Daddy Support Hope that helps you in resolving the issue! ^Colby Go Daddy Social Media Team

I agree with Steve, don't waste your time trying to get a WordPress blog to work properly at GoDaddy.

I tried using GoDaddy for 8 blogs before. The only time they worked correctly was around 3AM. During daytime and evening hours (when most normal people are online), the blogs took so long to load that they just timed out and generated error messages. When they did work, load times were so long that they were useless. Moved all 8 blogs to another hosting company, all of them worked great from the start.

GoDaddy is OK for normal html/php sites. (I still have some there.) But they really suck at WP blogs.

I am curious what the "social media team" will reply to this... because since 2004 (the year I started using WordPress and setting up sites for clients) I have never seen anything that would make the statement invalid.

I've seen many attempts for explanation and diversion - but never a solution.

WTF is that? 11 hours? In the mean time there's a "Go Daddy" rep here on the thread doing damage control. So, the conclusion is that they can have people out doing damage control, but can't invest in providing more timely support staff.

Tris and others in the thread,

We understand the concerns users have had over the years in regard to our hosting performance and we have listened. We have made huge improvements to our hosting infrastructure over the past few years, especially in the last year and are continuing to do so. Though I am not familiar with Optimizepress specifically, I am happy to take a further look into it for you if you provide the incident ID you mentioned that was submitted.

So, has Go Daddy helped you yet?

    Update:
Nobody, including GD "representatives" should post anything good about GD - before reading and understanding this thread

Note. It is not even about being hosted by GD... only having a domain registered with them.
