Somewhat simple database within WordPress?

Hi all,

My girlfriend is starting a business creating and selling all natural products such as lip balms, lotions etc and on her website she wants to have a page with all the natural ingredients and essential oils that she uses.

Is there a way in WordPress to have a database of these ingredients and also have it automatically link to the specific products that she will sell that use that ingredient?

I could do it manually but I just feel it would be easier to do it through a database of some kind.

Thanks in advance.

Scott.

By using a CPT-custom post type(s) and taxonomies you can certainly do this. The "automatically link" will not be so clear cut as you wrote it but certainly semi-auto.
If you want to see how it could work, go to WordPress.org and search the plugins for "recipe" and you'll find quite a few recipe plugins that do just that. (but with with recipes of course).

They have a "product" (meal), and use all kinds of ingredients, calories, etc...
You couldn't use these plugins, but a few might help you map out your own CPT and taxonomies.

It sounds like you need a custom solution. If your up for a little challenge and some elbow grease, there are plenty of good custom post type plugins as well that will help you create your own.
What your using for an ecommerce solution and more will all play a part in what you need to do.
