I know that Wordpress.com has premade templates to use, and Wordpress.org has tons that can be applied to it as well.

1.) Is it possible to add other templates to Wordpress.com?

2.) Can you build a template, let's say in Dreamweaver, and upload it to Wordpress.org?

Thanks!

Please be aware: there are two products and though they share a lot in common, they are very different in what you can get them to do.

Wordpress.org is only the download site for Wordpress which you can install on your own site. You can modify this as you wish theme-wise and in many other ways, too.

Wordpress.com is hosted blogs which are provided with a set number of themes/plugins. You cannot add any themes to those already permitted. Nor can you update plugins. However, they cover the hosting for you. And it's pretty easy. BUT no commercial sites are allowed PERIOD.

So which one are you talking about?

Also, the wordpress themes have a number of standard and non-standard pages written for each theme, that must be created. It includes post/pages, index/search/404 pages.. And so on.

So what is it you are asking? Why? Pls clarify.

wordpress.com itself provide you 15 to 20 premium quality template if you want to use another template means any custom template or if you want to do any change in css of the theme ..its possible in wordpress.com but its not free for this u need to buy a annual subscription pack in which you will get a special facility where you can add, edit anything to your template which is not possible in free service so they will charge 10 to 30 dollars per yr if you need some extra features then also you can purchase it from their site and remember they don't provide any support service for this if you are good at designing and customization then this is only the way where u can add edit things but if u r not a expert in it then don't go for this as they don't provide ant support u may loose ur money.

      Thanks for the feedbak guys!

I know that Wordpress.com is free hosting and limited. I use them for a couple of sites.

As for Wordpress.org, I wondered how much more you could do with it as far as look and feel. I see alot of great looking Wordpress sites that I assume are with Wordpress.org.

      Cool!

Is it possible to download it onto a domain that you already have with a static website?

There are some absolutely incredible custom WordPress designs out there these days. People are stepping up the bar and doing more and more incredible things with WP every day. I like to think I'm above your average intermediate WP user, but every time I turn around there's someone totally blowing my mind with newer more innovative designs. They finally drove me to just give up on design and focus on my marketing. I'll let the experts take care of the design ends

    1.) no

2.) yes, but wordpress.org is a self hosted blog, there are thousands of free templates and if your going to use your own I would suggest starting from the sandbox theme, search for it, its out there.
