GIF Vs. JPEG the main difference between them!
When GIF is used with photos, the file (photos) are not as compressed as if JPEG were used.
When JPEG is used with logos, graphics and cartoons the file is not as compressed as with GIF.
In both instances when the image is saved with the wrong type of extension the files can be up to 4 times the size of what it would be if it were saved properly.
This all makes a difference in how fast your pages will load.
Hope this helps.
