So I have been doing web design and developing websites for a few months now but the one thing I always have trouble with is the logo.. The site will come out really nice and clean and then the logo just looks like crap lol. Looking for someone who can give me a few pointers on how to go about creating a nice clean logo. Whether its just text or has pictures I don't care but I need help. If you have experience and can teach me I am willing to learn! Thanks.

Outsource it! Go to Fiverr.com and find a seller that does logos... For a clients site, i usually buy about 5 gigs or 25$ worth of logo design gigs. This gives me atleast 5-10 logos to choose from. You'll always be able to find a good one out of 10. This way you spend 25$ and 5 minutes on logo design instead of 8 hours on a logo that your not quite sure you like.

I was just like you and then discovered Fiverr.com..... I outsource a ton of stuff now and it all looks great!

    Cheers,

    JT

I am not looking to outsource for logos..I want to learn it so I don't have to spend money on people to create them for me.

You can learn it sure, but if you really want to earn serious money at it you need to be ok with outsourcing.

Logos greatly depend on what type of website you are making the graphics the look and the feel should resemble the logo you are making

you need to have the eye wether your logo blends well with the site you are making

some questions you can ask yourself does it blend well with your site? does it symbolize the type of website you are making?.

Also another thing you need to have that creative mind and the skills to make em. Some people have the creative mind but dont have the skills to create them or have the skills but lacking the creativity

well I hope this gives you a hint

    regards

I would suggest getting a copy of Coreldraw. It's a great program for simple artwork I was in the t-shirt business for several years and Most of the artwork we did was very basic spot color designs typically text or simple characters such team mascots or names That being said Coreldraw is a vector based program that produced very clean artwork and is very easy to learn and to use quickly.
It also gives you a lot of other options such as being able to export it to Photoshop. if you need Images can also be saved as either gif, jpeg, png , tiff, etc.. Another really great thing about Coreldraw is that you can often get older versions of it very cheap. Which is just fine. I've been using Coreldraw since version 4 and there really aren't any really great things about newer versions that make it worth $400. Especially if you can get your hands on an older copy for $35 or $40 . It is ideally suited to logo design. very powerful software and very fast to work with.

Better to use Photoshop so you can customize your logo and just simply attached the file too your website.
