membership site questions

Hi, I'm trying to set up my first membership site. I just have a few questions. For example. I'm guessing that the sales page that gets people to sign up should be on the main page for example "mydomain.com" and on the sales page I should have a link saying something like "already a member? Sign in here". That link should take them to the log in page, for example "mydomain.com/login" And after the logging in it should direct them to the page with the things I'm offering, for example "mydomain.com/membersarea". Is this right? And one more thing. I'm setting up my site with s2member plugin on wordpress. So do I need to create a special "Login Welcome Page" like they say in the tutorial or can my "log in welcome page" be the members area? I hope this is not to complicated to understand

    It was a while back when I set up a site with that plugin... so I don't remember.

    However, as a general advice: if a tool (plugin, theme etc.) has detailed instructions... just follow them! Don't try to outsmart them and to take shortcuts. If they say something in their tutorial and you are clueless - why do you think you know better and want to skip that step?

      Yeah but in the tutorial they say that you should make one but don't specify if it can be the one directly to the members area. And I've been looking on their site for more information but not been able to find anything that adressed this directly.

    I'm using the same plugin.

    You want a squeezse page offering a free product. On this page I just have a link that says "log in". This is my main page.

    The thank you page is my landing/sales page to the membership. This page has its own link for members to log in. I will also promote this in the follow up messages.

    The members log in page is just a log in page. You direct members to this page just for logging in.

    Then you will have the members welcome page. The first page you see when you log in.

    If you are using this just for a paid membership, you need to intergrate the register page with paypal. No need for a register page for the public.

    If this is a free membership or guest member for level 0. Replace the pay pal button with a register button.
