Hi,

I just add a wordpress blog to a domain name. But, I forgot I already had a website loaded on that domain. How do I remove the old site so that only the blog is present?

My host is with Hostgator and my FTP is Filezilla.

Thanks for your help!

    Hi Christie

If the old site had an "index.html" file you will need to remove it from the root of your website. Otherwise the other files probably won't interfere with WordPress.

If you want completely remove the old site (without just doing a fresh installation) you could temporarily use Fantastico to install a 2nd copy of WordPress in a sub-directory (i.e. create a "blog" folder and install it there). Then examine the structure of that folder and compare it to your root folder. Remove any files or folders from the root that don't appear in the new installation.

Personally I would just backup the new WordPress site and just start from scratch, it may actually be faster!
