Too bad the replies above have no idea what were you asking... because they never read carefully the OP. (just a hint, guys, if your future posts start to disappear...)

It is possible to build a list building "funnel" even with WP but before getting any advice you need to know (and communicate clearly) what exactly is in your funnel.

No, we do NOT need to know what is your niche [only nosy people ask that in the IM forum...]

However, we do need to know what steps - pages - would be included in your listbuilding funnel.

On the simplest level, any listbuilding is based on 3 pages:
- optin page (a.k.a. sqeueeze page) with the subscribe form
- thankyoupage, where they arrive after submitting the form
- confirmation page, where they arrive after confirming their desire to stay on your list, by clicking on the confirmation link in the email sent by the AR [autoresponder].

For just these 3 pages you don't really need a WP installation.
However, if you already have a WP blog (as stated in your OP), you have choices:

a) you can set up the simple funnel described above using WP Pages (not posts!) and remove them from the menu in case you use one of those stupid themes that display every Page in the menu;
b) using WP but with special [custom] Page templates for the funnel; see above the menu issue;
c) set up the funnel "next" to your WP, i.e. 3 simple HTML files in the same directory

In each case (a, b, c) you can also stick an optin form into the sidebar of your blog: simply create an additional form in your AR admin panel for the same list.

Of course, you can "complicate" the process by inserting different offers in the process... e.g. the 'thankyoupage' can be a sales page for a paid item, as an OTO... or the confirmation page, besides the download for the stuff you promised on the optin page, you can also try an upsell... and after that a downsell...and so on.

WordPress or not - that's not the main question. The main question is:
Do you know exactly what is going to be in your funnel?!
