Hi guys,

I'm building a website for a client similar to craigslist. This website is going to be like an online database for chefs and their recipes. She wants to be able to give any chef she knows the website and let them have the ability to create categories and add recipes to the website.

Does anyone know of a good plugin that they've used that will allow this?

    Not enough info to get a meaningful answer. Give more details... and if you don't have them you did a bad, sloppy job when talking to your client.

    Who will access the "online database" i.e. the recipes? - Everybody or only chefs?
    You didn't even mention what kind of script are you going to use... that's a sign of the unprepared webmaster who knows only WordPress (because you mentioned "plugin").
    Now, if WP - and you want to let web-illiterate chefs to manage categories, then you set up your client for a major disaster - please, read and learn about Roles and Capabilities in WP... the Codex is quite detailed about it!

    What you described is NOT a matter of plugins(s). It is a matter to know WordPress, if you are going to use it. And above all, know your client and let them know about the difference between dreams and technical possibilities: it is your duty!

    IMO it's a bad idea to let random people create categories on your site, doubtful all those chefs will be webmasters.

    Add a form on the page & let the chefs submit their recipes (submit form --> email), then let the site owner be the person to add the content to the site (moderation, formatting, etc...).

    Make a custimized submit form then all the chefs have to do is fill in the blanks:
    • recipe title
    • chef name
    • recipe
    • restaurant name/location
    • etc...
