HTML redirects and affiliate cookies

If you use an HTML redirect on your page to direct to your affiliate site, for example:

Kitten Bubbles: Home: Zazzle.com Store

(which is my store, but I will also have an affiliate tag on the end of it)

Will it keep the tracking cookie once it passes from my domain to Kitten Bubbles: Home: Zazzle.com Store ??

Or is it different for every site, in this case would only zazzle know the answer?

Hi,

Yes html redirect retains your affiliate credit.. You just need to use exact affiliate url when setting up html redirect like this one:
Code:

<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="0" url="http://www.yourafiliatelink.com/?youraffid=123"> <html> <head>Redirect...</head> <body> <p>Please wait while we redirect you...</p> </body> </html>
In the url have your full affiliate URL... then put this code in your site in some page/file say: product.html

now people going to yoursite.com/product.html
will be redirected to the merchant site using your affiliate link.

Is that a 301 redirect? I got this answer from someone else:

"301 redirects will cache your requests and you'll lose the ability to set the proper referrer cookie on subsequent visits (not as Zazzle-specific behavior). You'll need a dummy page with some Google'd JS in order for a site like this to work."

Totally confused.

Meta redirects aren't the best option to use as they are unreliable.

Additionally, if the refresh time is set to 0, some browsers/spiders will treat it as a 301 redirect and some as a 302 or 307 redirect.
