Can you tell me what plugins you use to help WP site load faster.
Hey guys and GIRLS.. I just went to a multisite platform and am currently using a couple of different plugins that help a site load faster, BUT my site is still going slow like a couple seconds.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    FYI: Plugins, usually, slow down your WP site... and don't speed it up

      Come on Istvan, I'm sure you know about the benefits of caching, minifying code etc.

      I see you added your smiley, so I'll just assume you were joking. :p

        Kinda...

        Yes, I am aware of the benefits of a very few plugins when it comes about speed. However, I am also aware of the obsession of inexperienced users to have a plugin for everything, even for the most trivial tasks.

        Look at all those threads where some clueless people ask whether to use WP or something else... and then the horde of idiots start repeating like zombies, "wordpress, wordpress, it has thousands of plugins;
        wordpress, wordpress, it has thousands of plugins;"

        All those people won't listen to your balanced and educated opinion, they will follow the herd and tomorrow they will also be in the 'choir' that sings praise to the zillions of plugins :rolleyes:

    I have used W3 Total Cache with some other .htaccess magic and Apache tweaks on my dedicated server several time...

    But it also depends on your theme if the site loads fast or slow.

    And... 3rd party scripts... javascript for ads that got loaded, facebook, twitter, google+, google maps, ...

    In most cases it's 3rd party scripts that slow down a website...

    Sometimes, when your theme has tons of graphics/css/js files it helps a lot to combine/minify the js/css files AND also to use CSS sprites...

    Using JPG instead of PNG can help a lot, too...

    1000 different things that can influence loading time...

    I am doing frontend performance optimizing (thats how it is called) since 2009. For big sites, for small sites and for the almighty (LOL) WP
