Need to create lots of static HTML landing pages

Hi,

I am creating a mobile site for a client with multiple static HTML landing pages (about 300 in all) that are targeted to different towns in the London area. All the landing pages are identical apart from the page title, file name and one text instance of the town name in the content. Rather than having to create all these pages manually, I have been trying to find some software or script that will allow me to mass create the pages i.e. by using a template and swapping out certain fields for a list of data (in this case page title, file name and town name).

Does anyone know of any software or script that can do this?

The easiest way would be to create just 1 landing page, then use PHP to swap out text in the page's body based on the what town is specified in the query string (which is the info appended to the end of the URL, after the question mark).

For example, if you use this URL...

www.YourClientsWebsite.com?town=wembley

Then in your landing page (ie index.php), wherever you put this code...

<?php echo $_GET['town']; ?>

... it will display 'wembley'.

For example...

<H1>Welcome to our <?php echo $_GET['town']; ?> page!</H1>

^^ Would display "Welcome to our wembley page!"

And if you use this URL...

www.YourClientsWebsite.com?town=croydon

Then that same HTML code would display "Welcome to our croydon page!"

etc etc.

OR... you could create 300 different pages, but that would obviously be a lot more work.

Remember to use the <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX"> tag in the <head> section of the landing page(s). Regardless of how you generate the pages, if all of the pages are identical except for the city name, it is a sure bet that 300 identical pages will set a "duplicate content" flag with Google, and you don't want that.

  since you want to create static html pages, what you need to do is to create a simple php page for example request.php and put it in folder for example called "static"
  
  Then using htaccess convert all pages request to that folder to static html by creating .htaccess file on that folder and enter this code
  
  RewriteEngine On
  RewriteRule ^([^/]*)\.html$ /static/request.php?lookup=$1 [L]
  
  where lookup will be be the variable you want to use in generating the new page.
  
  so normal page http://www.site.com/static/request?lookup=cheese
  will now be www.site.com/static/cheese.html
  
  so with this you have your static html and seo url
