Help wth WP catagories

I bought WP for dummies and realized I'm trying to create a CMS "blog" didnt know that! i'm trying to set 2 catagories like a)articles with sub headers; ie wt loss, yoga, sleep...then b) products links to merchants that i have already applied to be an affilliate. is this just easier than i think and i'm making it hard or what? im trying to educate myself and im having a block. i already researched FTP, am using NVU on another site...im pretty proud of myself. oh and the wiki? im in too deep....getting foggy..LOL. hey,you need medical advice..ask me! all this stuff is sooo new for me. any help would be good. thanx

    You can do this in the "manage" tab in WP settings - it's not too hard.

    First, create your main category (ie articles) - category parent = none.

    Then, go to create a sub category (ie yoga), but under the "category parent" section, if you want to put Yoga under Articles, then you select 'Articles" as the parent category.

    Then you just repeat the process for any other categories and sub categories.
