Do I Have to Create Duplicate Blog Posts?

Our website serves two different, but similar niches.

As a result, many of our posts/articles serve both niches.

We have a resources page for each niche, which contains links to the articles that can help the members of each niche.

I have two different sidebars that I use on the site; each of them promote a free ebook that I've created for each niche.

Again, most of our posts serve both niches, so I'm running into an issue; there are posts/pages that have sidebars that are more applicable to the other niche.

For example, this post is referenced on both of the "resources" pages (this one, as well as this one). But if you notice, the sidebar for this page is only applicable to one of the niches.

After a lot of thought, my conclusion is that I'm going to have to either:

1. Make two copies of each post... one for each of the niches. That way, I could assign the appropriate sidebar to them.

I'm leery of this option, because having duplicate data (unless I spin the posts, which is a lot of work), I'm afraid of hurting my SEO rankings for the posts by having duplicate posts out there.

2. Put both ads in the same sidebar... which isn't really a desirable option either... hmmm

Is option one my best option, or might there be another option I'm not aware of?

Any useful insight is appreciated. Thanks.

In case what I said is confusing, allow me to paraphrase my issue...

I have posts that apply to both niches. And each of the two sidebars that I've created promote just one of the free ebook/opt in forms.

In other words, there will be instances where people will view "Post A", for example, which contains an opt-in list and free ebook promo that is suited for another (or the other, if you will) niche.

Well you'll need to write 2 posts if you want both to rank in the serps and get traffic.

The way that it's supposed to work is that the 1st post ranks and the duplicate and all duplicates thereafter don't.

Like I said, the way it's supposed to work.

Yep, you confirmed what I had already suspected. I agree.
