Hello warriors,

I need help in doing this:

I installed google analytics on a website which main page is an optin page, now, I want to start uploading other pages on the site, do I need to install the GA codes on all the pages of the site or the first one I installed is enough.

In details: let's assume I installed GA on www.mysite.com, now I have another page as www.mysite.com/xyz. Do I need to install GA on this also?

Thanks,

It depends on what you are using.

If you are making an HTML page, then on all pages...

    If Wordpress, then footer.php

    If Joomla, then .....(don't know)

If the website you are using have a separate footer file which is being included on all pages, then inserting the code there is enough...

If it's an HTML site then you should add Google Analytics in all pages. If it's a WordPress site then add it once footer.php file and you are good to go.

yes for html pages add GA code. Ecommerce site - index.tpl or index.php file is sufficient, WP - footer.php

add the code in </head> tag.. it is better for you. Suppose I want to Check the online visitors on UP Board results 2013 then it is only possible with Analytics.

Don't add your google analytics in your head section if you can avoid it. For best practice you should include it it just before the end body tag, this will allow your website to load first and then load the google analytics code. This is the same with every other bit of javascript you are including on your website.

  • Yes! your Google analytics tracking code should be present on every single page of your website. If you forgot to include in one page you will see in your traffic source report your own website.

The code should be present to each page that you want to be tracked. For HTML pages the only option is to insert the code into each page.
