Hey guys,

I'm not super tecky; however, one of my websites is getting a large amount of traffic and getting very expensive.

One of my partners lives outside the U.S. and told me he wants to move the site to host he loves in Europe. I like the price of them a lot, great customer service, and the host has a great reputation from what I've read...but I'm worried about the performance of the site since most ppl are in the U.S. the site will be serving.

So what is a solution to this? If it's hosted in Europe would using a CDN like cloudflare, maxcdn, amazon, etc. to serve the files take care of this? (any other suggestions about this)? Or is it not a big deal if it's hosted across the pond but serving visitors over in the US?

Let me know your thoughts.

thanks a lot.

I have never seen a big deal in where the host is located. It should only matter if your serving large content like videos.

I had same problem some time ago. I have also sites dedicated for US market but because I am from Europe than I thought about how to use Europe hosting which I know better etc. But finaly I decided to stay with US hosting.

I am not saying I did good decision but because I could not get clear answer I choiced safer way. If server Geo location is big factor for Google search results than I don't want to make mistakes.

From what I know CDN help you only with serving websites elements like images, css, js files and other downloadable content. Just adding CDN for such elements makes your site works faster and help with Google ranking. But I don't know way to make whole main site domain works with CDN and also be safe for Google Geo location.

If anybody know more about this than please let us know.

    Thanks,
    Tom
