I created a blog page in WordPress like this:

Went to PAGES>then ADD NEW>named it "CARTOONING INFO BLOG"

set my page attributes as:

Parent (no Parent)
Template (Full-width page template, no side bar

Clicked PUBLISH

Then I went to MENUS and created a Custom Link and labeled it just like I named the page CARTOONING INFO BLOG then clicked "Add To Menu"

as I am working on my site via an assigned temp domain URL and working on it via an assigned wordpress login admin, the is the URL:

CARTOONS | CARTOON IMAGE DATABASE | CUSTOM CARTOONING SERVICE and see the name of my blog page on menu of my home page. Question is if anyone can suggest the best way to begin adding posts to this PAGE since I did set it up as a PAGE and not a POST page. Any advice appreciated.

If there is a widget area on this page? Or you can add a widget area here yourself.
Add your posts to the widgets. And you also can find lots of plugins can achieve this.

Hi ColorVila: See attached screenshot....good question about widgets. This is initially why I am asking this question about the best way to begin using this page as my blog posting page. Will my posts be typically archived? Of course, I'd like to include images that I want to tag and categorized. So wondering how I can use it this way. To start a post, would I click add new> post and type in that and it would get archived on this page? Or do I type in the actual text box area?
I am very mixed up about word press.

If I understand what you are trying to do, you need to configure
    • Reading Settings
    • Front page displays
To show that page as front and the blog posts will appear under it.

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

If you want to show your posts on home page, then why create a static page for it ? The default front page should be displaying the posts.

If you create a static page and then want to show your "blog posts" there, then you need to make a page template which would have the loop so that it can show your "posts"

By the way the home page of your current site is already a "page" so go to your Settings >> Reading >> Select option, show latest posts on home page. Save.

      Hello Patrick:
Your input is appreciated. The deal is, I don't want posts to appear on this page but if you see that link on the menu entitled "CARTOONING INFO BLOG", that is where I intend posts to appear. My initial question then is, can you suggest the best way of beginning a test post (i'm going to profile an image) and tag it and categorize that image. Can I do that on the post page entitled CARTOONING INFO BLOG? Thank you very much.

    Go to Settings >> Reading...

You will see a dropdown "Posts Page", select this page and save...

The problem is your whole approach is WRONG!

You do NOT add posts to Pages. Period.

You can, however, set up one Page as your homepage/frontpage... and another Page as your "post page". As you were adviced above: see the Settings > Reading and act accordingly.

Anything else, any attempt to outsmart WP's logic to present posts... is doomed and reveals a complete misunderstanding of the software. Educate yourself about the WP features and try not to work against them but use them in your advantage

Patrick: Similar to attached screenshot? I don't know how I'm trying to outsmart the program as there is even a tutorial on You Tube that states these specific steps so wondered why the actual process isn't happening for me. I could post a link to that YouTube tutorial if interested.

You might need a custom page template for the blog page then. If you want you can send me the page.php file (put the code in Pastebin.com - #1 paste tool since 2002! and then paste the link here), I will make it and send it back to you free of cost (if you don't know how to do it). It will take hardly 5 minutes.

PS. Am going for dinner, so not exactly 5 minutes.

Or you can try doing this. Make that page a default page template, right now its a full width template.
