Critique my website design

Hi, I just started a website three days ago and have built it up myself. I built my own header and made an aweber subscribe box.

Please take a look and offer any critiques.

    Could use lots of improvement honestly.

    The colors, fonts etc. When building a website always set a goal. What I mean by this is to simply identify your target and where everything should be. Seems to be scattered...

    Overall its not that bad..but could use some love.

    Out of a design perspective it's... Ok, I guess? The banner could be more professional since the bevel glow usage looks amateurish, but I mean, it's fine... Marketing wise there's a lot of room for improvement you probably should put more emphasis on getting them to subscribe to your list.

      I've searched the forums and haven't been able to find anything about specific improvements. I honestly was looking for a mentor but I'm just figuring this out on my own. Every post that I have read has said it is the most important to take action and make mistakes, so that's what I did. I got an autoresponder. I targeted specific keywords that I am on page 3 for already. I haven't gotten any organic traffic yet but I hope to soon.

      I was trying the side ad. I've had probably 75 page views in the past 3 days with no subscriptions so I might try the pop up banner for the free report? I wrote the free report and put the autoresponder in the sidebar but it hasn't been working.

    You site looks good just a little improvement on your header image. I would suggest to take the beveled thing on the fonts and on the image. Coz the image looks good on its natural macro shot. Just saying, I hope this helps

    Just some feedback.

    1. White would be a better color theme for a weight loss site.

    2. Homepage: Images could be reduced. They're way too big and make your site look cluttered.

    3. Homepage: There's no need for that much margin or padding on the left side.

    4. Homepage: I'm guessing your monetization strategy is to get people on your email list. Make the opt-in form bigger, with a larger sidebar to accommodate it.

    5. Single posts: If getting people on your email list is your monetization strategy, why not include it in your single posts?
