How Could My Website Be Found So Fast?

This is new to me and as many of the posts that I read here I don't recall anyone covering this.

Here's the situation. Last night I installed word press on a brand new domain. I typed up an article and published it at my site and no place else. In less than 24 hours someone from Poland registered as a new user to post comments.

How is this possible for them to find me so fast on a bare bones website, when I haven't even submitted my website to any of the search engines?

I'm very baffled at this. Any ideas or answers.

Thanks in advance.

Spammers and others are really fast at finding places. Especially the spammers did they leave a comment something like
whoah this blog is magnificent i really like reading your articles.
Keep up the great work! You already know, many
persons are looking round for this info, you can help them greatly.

Take a look at my webpage ...<snip>

Could be a case of spammers have managed to find you which is likely as I have known this with previous blogs and also forums I have created in the past. Another likely theory is that the domain name was previously used before and they have stumbled up on the link again and found your new wordpress site.

Wordpress has some default pinging capabilities, so even without SEO effort, the moment you published that post, the word was out there. This starts the chain of events that lead to that visitor, however, I agree that it's very fast - I could only do something similar by posting the link on Twitter.
