I am using wordpress. How do I put my website offline as I want to edit it. I also want to have some kind of message (site under maintenance of something like that) on my site whilst I am editing so that when visitors come to my site they see this message. Thanks

You might want to have two copies of your system. The live copy, where your website is running and the Test copy where you do your improvements. When you're happy simply upload the files to the live version. Generally it's bad idea to try new stuff on a live system, even if you put it down just for a few moments. Tyrus |

I used the plugin. Even though it says "The Maintenance Mode is active. Please don't forget to deactivate it as soon as you are done" - my site is very much active and can be seen!!
