First off, mods let me know if this is OK to post the link.
The website is a blog/forum (I will only post the blog url) focusing on young entrepreneurs.

Sort of similar to warrior, but we want to get into the more technical aspects. Like setting up LLCs, DBAs, how to write business plans, what to do when you're on a budget, etc... All of these are planned for the blog.

I'm just curious what your first impressions are, and if we should change anything. I think that the logo needs to be changed because IMO it portrays the site as an exotic car site, which it is not.

The blog is novumdives.com

I am open to ANY and all changes. I need as much constructive criticism as possible.

Thanks

I think you are going a good job with regards to quality content so far. I agree that the logo needs to change, try to find something more simple and elegant, it then becomes easier to create a cohesive brand across all your social media etc.

Also a suggestion from my personal preference, get rid of the side bar with the recent articles as they are shown anyway. You can then make the blog content take up a wider more focused portion of the screen. You could set the social media icons to be attached to the side of the screen so they slide down the page as you scroll down.

Finally I would suggest you add social sharing and liking etc. to individual articles.

    Is coming along nicely though!

    Kind Regards,

These are my personal suggestions . . .

    1. Change the logo, it's awful - especially for a blog about young entrepreneurs. I won't say more on this as others have made the same comment.

    2. Get rid of the ugly wood panel black and white background. It's distracting and doesn't enhance your blog. You'd be better off with simple white or a very subtle pattern, texture or color. It shouldn't be obtrusive, just easy on the eyes and very professional.

    3. Why are you blogging about Sports Investing? You said your site was for young entrepreneurs with discussions like business structure, business plans, DBAs, etc. (And contrary to what your article on "investing" says, you're talking about wagering which is just another term for gambling. Do you think your business site is going to be seen as professional with articles about this subject?)

    4. As Connor mentioned, the open side bar on the right just condenses all your text to the left. Either use full width or make use of the sidebar.

    5. Where's your email capture? Aren't you trying to build a list? It should be prominent, and in my opinion, on all pages of your site.

    6. At first glance, I have no idea what your site is all about. I want to know that so I don't waste my time if it's not of interest. Sometimes a logo helps to address this, sometimes it's a Header and tag line.

    7. Where is your headline? What is going to grab a viewer's or surfer's attention and get him interested in your site? See how the big name marketers do this and follow their lead.

Don't be discouraged or think I hate your site. I'm trying to give you some suggestions that will make it better.

    The best to you,

    Steve

Awesome. Thanks guys! Believe me, I'm not offended at all by the criticism, this is my first forum so I need help.

Steve I had a question for you. When you're talking about email capture, why would I need that for a forum? Or do you mean offer like a freebie on the main page, once they optin then start linking into the forum so they will join?

I agree with pretty much everyone's take. We def. need a header and be able to easily tell the user what this site is about. And change the dang logo!

I agree with others, the header sucks. Slider is slow to load images and overall site does not look professional. Take this criticism positively and improve your site.

The menu navigation links are small. I agree with Steve B that its difficult to tell what your site is about at first glance.

    Go to these sites:

Concept Feedback | Get Expert Website Feedback and Increase Conversions
Get Feedback for Your Website - Criticue.com
spicypage | submit your site or blog free, let community vote on it, view most popular, spicypage

Before you even ask, you knew that your logo was not great. And you're right! It is too complex and unrepresentative of your site. Many people think that the more items there is, the more the message will be clear, but the opposite happens, they sow confusion.

Look at the top of this page and see which surface the logo takes and how simple it is. What meets the eye first is "WARRIOR" and "FORUM" and that's enough. Now look at the sites of large companies and professional bloggers. Facebook, MacDonald, Apple, Google ... you name it, they all have a logo and a sober presentation. Forget textured or colored background or otherwise, make it subtle and not distracting.

In terms of content, it is very interesting, it remains only to change the packaging!

Failed snap test = after 4 seconds I did not know what the site was about.

A head line can address this.

    Best of luck

Your site is pretty good for a start. My recommendation is to try to make it look for professional by changing the theme. The theme that you have makes it look more of a blog than a website. If its going to be a business website, it needs to have a more serious and professional look. I would suggest, finding a different theme for it. But I like the articles. They are easy to read and interesting enough. The topics are great as well. Continue to add more valuable posts and you'll do a great job. Also, don't forget to promote the site.

    Looks like a good start-
    my thoughts,
I'm not sure what the site is about when I land. I head over to the about page and I get a better idea. Maybe change the logo and add a tagline that defines what I expect to find on your site, and that way visitors would know when landing on any page.
