Building a website with a bought theme questions

I have never built a website by buying a theme. I want to though but have no knowledge of any kind of coding. So how does it go? I would buy the theme I want then hire a designer to set it up the way I want? What kind of prices should someone be charging for this or what would be reasonable. Thanks!

    Go for Free Wordpress, joomla or Drupal themes...N need of designer...

    Buying a theme is one way to go as it saves you a little bit of time, but depending on how much work you want done; landing pages, graphics, articles, products, etc would determine how much someone would charge you. There is no one price fits all, depends on your requirements what you want the final outcome to look like. At this point your could ask for how much to many people in that field to get a better idea as far a pricing.

    You are approaching this from the wrong end...

    First do your homework: market/niche research > keywords > buy a domain + get hosting > PLAN YOUR WEBSITE* > install a CMS (if "theme" then it should be WordPress) > figure out what kind of layout you need (based on all the previous steps of research and planning)... and then you can think about buying a theme. Until then - waste of money and nonsense.

      I already have a website for my offline business which is like 2 years old. I wanted to upgrade to something more professional looking and just basically wanted to transfer the content and make it look better...I dont really know how to go about it. I have seen a couple of themes that I think would look really good and function the way I would want it to too...now im just wondering how to go abou it!

    I dont really know how to go about it.
    My eternal analogy is: I don't know how to repair cars, either. That's why I hire professional mechanic guys

    P.S. My suggested steps to arrive to a "more professional looking" website are still valid... especially when it comes about WP powered sites.

    Most wordpress themes are easy and very professional and also they come with pdf guides and step by step on how to put them on your website.
    And depending the place you buy it sometimes the creator offers support till you fix everything

      I agree with most others. Installing Wordpress and buying a theme would be the way to go. You can get some great themes over at Themeforest. Most come with good documentation to configure it the right way.

      I would at least give it a try before you hire a designer. If it turns out you can't do it, which I believe you can, then you can hire a designer.
