Hey Guys,

I have a word press site that have several pages listed across the top and i would like to add subheaders/titles to one of the pages.

Basically the pages are....HOME ABOUT CONTACT EVENTS PRIVACY

I would like to add subheaders to the events page so that when someone hovers over the events button the events show in subcategories underneath, hope it make sense.

Please tell me the easiest way to to do this.

Many Thanks

Chris Allen

    Chris:

I am going to sound like a advertiser for Code Canyon - Really I am not.

Doing my own thing - and found some them very useful.

But Code Canyon has over 100 excellent drop menus that are plug an play for Wordpress.

Most are around $5.00 to $8.00 range.

Most if not all are open source and well laid out with ample installation details

    Chrissy;

You obviously never looked all of them would take less than 10 minutes to implement.

Fact your running a theme means nothing??

I mean the base Wordpress is a theme??

Can not and I state cannot get any simpler or cheaper than them!!

Even to a non programmer - the install details and directions are impressive to say the least.

My advice - take a serious look - do not be overwhelmed by the simplicity!!

      Chrissy,

When you create the "sub-page" in the "Pages" section of Wordpress, there's a section all the way to the right side of the screen that says "Page Attribute", default is "no parent". If you select that, it will allow you to create a sub-page under another previously created page.

Let me know if that's confusing.

It is built-in if you are using the custom Menus options under Appearence!

No need for additional code (yes, EzeadMedia, you sounds like somebody that has no clue about WP, so don't give advice!) and no need to mess with parent and sub-Pages (kwc, learn WP before giving advice!).

In the Menus subpanel after adding new items to the Menu on the right, just drag them a bit toward right and they will become automatically dropdown sub-items.
    Yes, it is that simple!

Go to codecanyon.com like EZ mentioned above. Search for MegaMenu, and buy it.It's $10 or so. The rest of the posters above are technically correct, but I don't think the WP menu system is going to address your issue, at least as I understand it. MegaMenu will, and should take you 30 minutes or so to figure out how to use it.

    Thanks for your help guys,

When i do parent pages it seems to just add the new pages underneath the pages that are already there so end up 2 lines of pages which looks messy.

I want to list vertically underneath the evnts page but for some reason the pages are listing horizontically underneath all of the existing pages??

In case ive confused anyone, i have a wordpress site that has a cutom theme running, i have created a page called events which is listed with the other pages across the top of the home page under the header banner.

I would like to add subheaders to the events page if possible, im unsure if the the individual events/subheaders which i want listed under the events tab need to be actual pages or posts??

Any help would be really useful, i know this is simple stuff and i am trying as we speak,

    warm regards

Chrissy was asking for a quick way to put in a advanced drop menu - that I gave here and as to my not knowing Wordpress - I do but would not wast my time with it - I hard code everything ad WP is too limited in its scope and is really only good for amateurs and non programmers - which from the sounds of your advice you fall under.

Yes guys i think it is the theme,

Having tried several things i still cant get it to work,

It does say if the theme doesnt support menu options then add it to the side bar using a widget, which i have just tried and it has added an events buttonthat displays the events that i was trying to add to the top of the page.

So now its a question of do i settle for that or can a drop down menu be added to an events to the top of the page with the theme im using for this site??

    Thanks

Menus were introduced in 2010. If a theme doesn't support them in 2013... it's time to throw it away
