You need to be a lot more specific on what he has done. A social network is a massive project, there could be any number of things that need to be done next.

    Stephanie:

Pete is right without a link to where your at it is impossible to say.

My advice is go to a freelancer site ( A reputable one - there are a ton of clones out there that are built just to rip you off - they may look legitImate but ??)

I would suggest elance.com - post exactly what you require and use their escrow service ( do not and I mean do not under any circumstance let the developer talk you into upfront payments or give you a better deal to go around the escrow service).

There are a lot of good developers that work there - sure they are offshore and because of that their rates are cheaper - figure a good one from say Pakistan or Eastern Europe or South America will run you between $8-12 per hour. The India Developers now are all way over priced so forget them.

BUT AGAIN NEVER PAY UPFRONT - ANYTHING!!!! - PUT THE FUNDS IN ELANCE ESCROW - THAT WAY IF THE JOB IS NOT DONE - YOU DO NOT GET TAKEN AGAIN.

The other thing is do the site in stages and set milestones at which time you pay once that stage is on your server working - but lay the whole theme and concept of the site out in the initial requirements so that they (the developer) does not have to redo work for the next stage. If you have a theme or target site that you looking to become like take screenshots and include them - but you do not want to be a clone of any site - that never works as people want something new and refreshing.

    Regards
    Frank

Thanks all for your advices, especially EzeadMedia for your long post.
I'll try to find another developer for now. I'll contact Niche social networks, social network development - YouNet that someone recommend here.
