    Paul:

The concept is great - I am doing exactly the same thing but for online trading - where it is a family friendly - fraud free site with strict controls for membership - NONE OF THE CRAIGSLIST BULL.

That said until you get going ??

PUT SOME EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT THE SITE IS ALL ABOUT - TAKE YOUR ABOUT US TEXT AND PLACE IT WHERE PEOPLE CAN REALIZE WHAT YOUR DOING ON THE FRONT PAGE - YOU HAVE ABOUT 10 SECONDS TO GRAB THEIR ATTENTION THEY ARE NOT GOING TO SPEND THE TIME SEARCHING FOR YOUR ABOUT US BUTTON - THEY WILL BE GONE.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

It's a nice site. I agree it does need an explanation on what it's about. I had no idea what the site was about when I visited it. And I still don't.

    Hi Paul ,

I really like the concept of your website but my suggestion for you to add more content on the front page to give it an aesthetic appeal.

All the best for your Website!

Thanks EzeadMedia, whland and EmmaHuston for the excellent feedback.

There's a clear message coming through - I'll look into vamping up the landing page as a priority. I completely agree - capturing interest in the first few seconds is paramount. I wish I'd spotted that myself!

    Cheers,

    Paul

oh interesting, but you can add texts for it and css cursor:pointer; for register interest piece on the bottom of page. It will be better for your users.

Yeah try to summarize the sites objective with a tagline under the logo or something. E.g. WF's logo tells you exactly what it is through the tagline at the top, people don't need to look twice or browse about.

    Thanks yestyle, blogfreakz and DanCoder.

I've just revamped the landing page. Is this the kind of thing you had in mind?

@yestyle - the register interest button now has a hand cursor - is this what you meant?

    This is really great feedback.

For access to the main site: please just register interest and I'll send you out a beta invite.

    Cheers,

    Paul

Great concept and Landing Page! I think it will also create an appeal if you include your website tagline "Family friendly social networking." in the landing page. This will help your audience distinguish your site from the rest of social networking sites. I agree with EzeadMedia, you will need to tell your visitors about your site a little more so they would know what it is about at the first time they visited it, don't waste potential site members/visitors.

  • Paul,

I agree with the other comments, more info when visitors get to the site.

You might also want to revisit the text in some of the site. There are common web conventions and terms that most people understand. I’m not sure what market you are targeting so I could be way off but to me, “register interest” is a weird phrase. Is that the same as “register now” or “get registered” or in some way indicating that visitors should sign up for a service? If so that phrase is totally confusing.

Any time you change the phrase (for example “go” instead of “search” in a search box), people get confused.

Check out this book, it’s a big help for usability,
