why are there no good wordpress Ecommerce themes?

For the past 2-3 weeks I have spent whole days looking for good ecommerce WordPress themes. I am not impressed with what's out there. (I have spent hours reading and learning on this forum and I am very impressed with the information on this forum, it has been very helpful).

Why/at what point does someone decide to create/have built a website, from the ground up VS use a WordPress theme?

Thanks in advance.

Have more wordpress Ecommerce themes on the internet but to fit your requirements I think you need to have a custom theme. Suggest you should hire a freelancer on warrior forum to do that.

Hey UMS, I am looking for a scalable solution. For example:

I have a domain for a niche. But, my niche, as well as many other niches can be expanded upon. For example, if my niche were cat toys. Maby I sell 100-200 cat toys on my website. But people who shop for cat toys may also shop online for cat food. So I expand my inventory and add another section to the website (instead of creating a whole nother website just for cat food). Then I realize I am missing out on the dog market, so I add dog toys and dog food. I could keep expanding my inventory based on how one thing relates to another.

(I realize I may be straying away from the idea of a niche site).

I like the "wpzoner" WordPress theme. The only conflict I have with purchasing this is that in the past couple of months some problems have arose from other forum members. People are saying there are small bugs or various browser problems, etc.

      WPzoner: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...sions-now.html

The WPzoner theme is good. BUT, The layout is a bit busy. I could go into the code and clean things up. (but, that's almost the same as building the site my self in Photoshop. Almost, but not exactly the same).

I am spending some of my time in Photoshop creating a website. (If I could find a WordPress theme, instead of creating the website my self I could save a bunch of time). Ultimately the website I am creating will look/function similar to newegg.com and tigerdirect.com. I will be promoting amazon products. I will be adding 100-500 products now and scale up to 10,000+.

sbucciarel, I will check out: "Woo Themes" and "Elegant Themes", later today. Thank you for the suggestion.

, I will check out: wix.com, later today as well. Thank you for the suggestion.

      Thanks in advance.

Woocommerce themes have the ability to set a product with an affiliate url, such as an Amazon url, or to deliver digital products or to set it as a physical product. I have two that I use for Amazon products exclusively and have a woocommerce Amazon plugin that pulls in the products via keywords. One of my sites has thousands of Amazon products in it so far.

sbucciarel, thanks for getting back to me.

I looked over "Woo Themes" and "Elegant Themes". they both have very nice eCommerce themes.

I just learned that I can download free eCommerce PSD templates. (I had no idea that such a thing existed).

I am making light/moderate modifications to a template right now.

My biggest complaint (if you will), with most of the WordPress templates is that I can not customize every little pixel on the screen (if I so chose). And this is where the power of Photoshop comes in...

Thank You everyone for your assistance.

Haven't had that problem. From Woo Themes to Elegant Themes and some others, I've found woocommerce friendly themes that I really like. You could always hire someone to build one for you or to alter/design an existing theme.

I actually stated wrongly. Should be ThemeForest.net ... they have lots of great themes there. CodeCanyon is also under them.

I see that... In the top right corner where it says "themes", it takes you to ThemeForest.net

"emthemes" has got some totally awesome looking eCommerce themes.

eCommerce - Responsive Supermarket PrestaShop Theme - GoMarket | ThemeForest

Using my powers of deduction (and reading), I figure that their themes run on the "Magento" platform. I have never heard of magento before (I am doing research on them right now).

Magento looks like a CMS (Content Management System). <-- Please correct me if I am wrong.

Very, very cool stuff. (This is why I joined this forum, to learn from others that know more than me)

          Thanks, MrJonny

It's like trying to tow something with your compact car -- not the right tool.
WP is not an ecommerce app.

You can integrate ecommerce into any site using the free wooCommerce plugin. It sounds like you need a custom design though.
