here is my advice - you need to learn to ask more detailed questions if you want people to respond to you.

on a second note, are you looking for a blog system? product site? etc. Wordpress and Joomla are great ways to get your feet in the water for web developement. They are great ways to get a site up and quick and fairly easy to modify. Plus tons of scripts (extenstions) available for them Joomla! The CMS Trusted By Millions for their Websites WordPress.com - Get a Free Blog Here You can't really go wrong with either one. A lot of people will say go with wordpress becasue of their SEO capabilities, but Joomla can be just as good if not better with blogging extentions. Joomla 3 just launched too which is now mobile responsive out of the box.

If you've never created a website, have a professional do it or use wordpress. Either way you'll probably need help...

If it's your first site, then start with a CMS. Don't pay someone. Get to know what you are getting into before forking out a ton of cash. Plus, once you learn how to run a CMS, and get an understanding of what you need done, then you'll know where your money needs to be spent and where you can save by doing basic things yourself. McCoyH... Your advice goes back to the old saying, "You can give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, or you can teach a man to fish and he'll never go hungry again."

    My advice:

1- Stop posting a bit and think about what kind website you wanna have.
2- What functions you'd like the site does.
3- What technologies you want the site on (plain html/css, CMS ....)
4- What you could do and what you can not do
5- You want to learn to create website or want others to create for you

The last is to stop asking this kind of question anymore. Why? It's too silly to ask for advice for the general ideas like this.

Give yourself sometime and think about what question specific to seek on the forum! :p

I just wanna tell you that most of the links in the signature are trash and/or a trap to make you pay!

If you plan to build a static site, I suggest you learn HTML and a little bit of CSS to start. The W3C guides make it so easy.

I would avoid WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editors, as enticing as they may seem, because most of them, like Wix, do not support Adsense or the user modifying the source code directly which can cause you to feel "stuck" as an aspiring web developer.

You could use Dreamweaver but that's kind of pricey. In any event, avoid Flash.

Dreamweaver 8 will only be the last dreamweaver i use.I never thought that flash will be ousted.I love the wysiwyg editors but only certain leaning.so what better types of editors you have in mind?i kinda like notepad++

Try find what skill or expert advice you can offer to people that will visit your website. Start a free wordpress blog and find a hosting that is around $5 or so a month. You will learn as you go and don't give it.

Don't forget if you're building one from scratch you will need web-hosting. Since this is your first site I recommend you get a free domain for it so go with dot.tk

Not much on description but I will assume you are a new webmaster. Make sure you research how you plan to build your website carefully. For a new webmaster you may want to look into systems like Wordpress to design your site around. Carefully do your design. Be a perfectionist. Then when you are satisfied release it to the public on a web server. As for a domain I would skip a free domain and just get a TLD right from a place like Godaddy.

First of all, you should read a lot about HTML and then try and learn it. Just play in notepad with some HTML codes, find out what they are doing, you will get those codes from the online but afterwards, you will need to know them by heart.
