Anyone can recommend a membership plugin for wordpress?

I sort of heard about WishList Member, can you tell me what's so good about it?

Or what are other alternatives? Why they're better?

Thanks!

What makes you pick amember pro? How's it better than wordpress with a membership plugin?

      Thanks.

    • Are you looking for free or paid Plugins? I would try Paid Memberships Pro 1.7.2.1

Its kinda pricy, but there is a free usage to the plugin.

I personally think DAP is the best. It's very full featured and can be used with WordPress and non-WordPress sites.

There is a little bit of a learning curve to using it, but the same applies to most of the other membership options out there.

    I recommend you to use s2Member .
I believe is the best membership plugin but of course it also depends on your needs. You can do almost everything and control member Roles, Capabilities, Paypal integration and many other things.

My vote goes to DAP (Digital Access Pass) as well, membership in a box. It's feature rich, seems to have great customer feedback and the company is known for providing great support.

WishList Member is good and is recommended by many but I think DAP is better because of its features. s2Member is solid and may cover your needs too.

My advice is to visit the company sites, look at their features, decide what fits your current and future needs and then go from there. All of these recommendations are solid in terms of quality and support. I think it comes down to your needs, your budget and comfort level with technology (setup, integration, etc.).

All the best with your membership plugin search.

I put in another vote for s2member. Been using it lately and it does things I couldn't do with Wishlist. S2member is just easier to customize from my experience, with more options.

I have not used DAP, so can't say. Though many people recommend it.

Thanks for the response. What kind of things you can do with s2member, but not wishlist?

      Thanks!

First off, Wishlist is a great plug-in, so I am not knocking it. I use it on two membership sites and it works perfectly.

The big thing that bugs me about Wishlist, is that you can't do much with the "This content is for members" message. On my membership pages, I like to tease with sales copy, then lock the actual content, such as the actual video's for example. I sell the content, but to see it they have to be a member.

With Wishlist, you can only slightly change the message, but not much and if I remember right, php code does not work in the space they give you to edit.

So for example, say I have silver and gold levels. Some one comes to a gold page, It will say it's for gold members, but I can't say, click here for gold membership. Right now, I have it as click here for silver and click here for gold, with two links, which is redundant and probably slightly confusing to some visitors.

With S2Member, I can put what ever I want. On a gold page I can say this content is for gold members, click here to join gold. Just so simple and makes more sense.

The other thing with Wishlist, is that you can't do much with the registration form, you can edit or change it some what, but not how you want, including the look/css of the actual form. I know when I hit a Wishlist site because every one has the same registration form.

S2member lets you change almost the entire registration form and it just looks so much better in my opinion.

Also S2Member has a built in custom login page, which you can change as well. With wishlist, you need to get an separate plug-in to customize your log in page.

Maybe these things just bug me

Also, S2member has a support forum, where as with wishlist you have to join their $20 a month insiders club to get to a forum and even then I did not get many answers, no one really seemed to know much.

While the S2member forum won't get you support from the owners if you have the free version, there are other people on there that are very helpful and seem to know the plugin.

Only trouble I've had with S2member is that I couldn't get the integration with Aweber working right. They have options to use the API, but it has not worked correctly for me yet. But that might be my hosting. Just haven't had time to mess with it lately.

        Hope that helps.

        Wow, that was long winded.

What I use is DAP. Since I can fully customize and do some of things I want to do for a membership website. I recommend DAP for anyone out there.
