WP Plugin Contact Form abuse

Hi There

I have a wordpress site with a contact form which has a math spam preventer in it and yet I still have someone doing this:

I'd try using a form with captcha characters. It requires manually inputting the same characters as displayed in a box before the form can be submitted.

I had this same problem and it was driving me way nuts. Then I downloaded and installed a widgit called BAD BEHAVIOR. I'm almost lonely now. The thingie comes from WordPress so it is easy to find.

I use Dagon Design's contact form with captcha and I've found it to block spam effectively.

I have heard of that plugin so I will take a look at it and see if it will work for me, like it has for you and I am sorry that you are "lonely now"

I've had good luck with the match question on my blog, or they have'nt found me.

Maybe you could do a math question and captcha? Though I have'nt seen a plugin like that yet.

I activated the 'bad behavior' plugin the other day and it has blocked 94 access attempts since then, so a BIG thankyou

I am no longer being bothered which is great!

Have you tried installing another spam blocker? Maybe they have found a loop in that particular version.

Yes

as you can see from the post above. The bad behavior plugin stopped it immediately but I also found a downside to it subsequently which is unfortunate and that is that it blocks everything coming in, including scripts being posted through API, so I have had to disable it. I will look at alternatives if I find this spammer returns, now that 'bad behavior' is deactivated but thank you for your interest
