I just set up a forum along with my blog. Before I set up the forum the blog was OK. I can go to the forum just fine but when I try to go to the blog I get this

Error establishing a database connection

I get no log in window just this. I had to make some changes and reset some passwords. Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks
Scott

You need to match up the mySql user/passwords with the database for the blog.

I thought about it and that is what I figured I messed up. They both can use the same database right? I don't have to make a new one for the blog?

Check your database and username/password exactly. I think you filled wrong database information.

Using the same database for separate applications can be done, but is a bad idea, it can lead to all kinds of problems, starting with getting it all set up, but it may not end there.

Def separate the two database for ease when updating either one. You will safe yourself a lot of headache later. Separating in the best idea for what you are doing IMO.

That was what I was thinking, one for the website and separate database for forum. No problem updating each app then right?

  • Send me a (PM) I'll give you a hand. It's clearly something within your database.

I am a truck driver. I am on the road for a few days. All I have is my phone. I am thinking about setting up a separate DB for my blog.
