Hi there I have just been looking at site stats in awstats for one of my Wordpress sites and there is this code: which is where the search keyphrases and search keywords stats are. Can anybody tell me what they would be? They aren't clickable so I don't know how to follow them to a post ![]() Cheers Viv P.S. I have just checked back to see if someone has replied to my query and I see that the code I pasted into this post has changed to, question marks. I have gone back to my awstats and I see that it has changed in there to question marks as well, I find this very odd. I hope someone can give me an explanation. The blocks from memory had FD on top and underneath I think it was FG,something like that anyway |

If you view in Internet Explorer the characters show as the square blocks you originally posted. As to why...it's likely because the search queries were made with language characters your computer doesn't support. Firefox shows unknown characters as question marks, IE shows them as empty squares. If you know what language was used you could probably find a language pack for your computer and install it and the characters would show correctly then. Regards, Perry. |

Hi Perry Thanks for your very informed reply to my question ![]() I was viewing my awstats in Firefox and originally the code appeared in squares but later changed to question marks. I did read that it could be language related but I also read that maybe it is someone trying to access the server and that had me concerned enough to try to find out what it relates to. You have confirmed the language theory ![]() Cheers Viv |

I recently had one of my sites busted into from somebody Brute Forcing their way in. Can't say I looked at the site stats though, so I'm not sure if it showed up there. Anyway, it doesn't hurt to be careful. Perry. | |
