How to get website back?

Hi,

I let the domain registration on one of my websites go awhile back without renewing it. I have some time to devote to it and want to know if it's possible to buy the domain again and have my old information back there still? I had tons of pages of posts, but don't want to start from scratch. Is that possible?

Also, I don't know if this is the right forum to place this or not?

I think you're confusing your domain with your hosting.

All this "old information" you're referring to would have been saved on a server with your host. Now I don't know who you use for your hosting/ domain registration, but if you're like me, I keep them separate.

Having said that, unless you retained an account with your hosting company, then chances are you have lost all of that "information" you're talking about. Futhermore, once a domain is dropped, things like it's page rank, backlinks, etc all get reset, so you'll be starting from scratch in that regard.

Basically ask yourself this... after you didn't renew the domain, did you still have FTP access to your site? If you can answer yes here, then chances are you've still got the content, it's just not linked to a domain. If you answered no, then you're pretty well out of luck unfortunately.

    Cheers.

If you are talking about http://www.blog-ideas.com the domain is owned by someone in South Carolina, if you want the domain name back, you would have to contact him.

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

As far as the domain..... If you let it expire then you don't own it anymore.
You might have to pay market value if you want it back... depends on the current owner...

As far as the website itself... if you still have the hosting server for the old domain in place, the files will still be there. It's just that the DNS will not be pointing correctly.
If you have cpanel, you could go into the file manager and grab the old files.

if you want your domain back along with data backup then you must contact to domain owners and get your domain back in the auction process but it might can cost you little more.
