So I've using dreamweaver, and I like it so far, but as a newbie, just getting into design do you think i should ditch it? I was reading on another thread, and a lot of people were saying to use notepad++

What's the industry standard? I still need a little help from time to time, dreamweaver is just so feature rich, I just dont want to learn bad habits from the start!

Thanks in advance!

I'm so comfortable using notepad++ I would never give up the control afforded by it, but if you are obtaining satisfactory results with DW....

    If it ain't broke

    Don't fix it.

Bud Use it dont use it, that will be up to you and your level! Can you code using notepad? R u wanting to do a design fast and get it up or take your time and learn etc? I started out in dreamweaver the very first one they had when adobe didn't own them. Now today I can do both either when im not at a pc I can write my code say on a note pad and say im in a doctors office and then redo it on the pc and make it live! Like I said it will be up to you and how far you want to go!

I dislike Dreamweaver very much, in my opinion, it does TOO much. If you are a hardcore programmer then I'm sure it's an amazing tool but for developing basic things (WordPress Themes, Plugins, Static Sites...), there are much better solutions out there.

Notepad++ is great, I've used it before and I'd recommend it over Dreamweaver any day. However, my personal preference is Sublime Text, since making the switch to it, coding has become a lot more enjoyable.

    Just my two cents,

For experienced coders, they would something else beside Dreamweaver because it's slow and pricey as well as too many build-in functions which they're not comfortable using it.

Notepad++ is always popup because it's fast and free open-source which is having many supporters.

If you're comfortable using DW, I don't see any reason why DW is not industry standard. If you're not comfortable using it, just find another one to see if you're satisfy with it or not.
