I Need To build My own Wordpress Theme Can anyone help

I am want to build my own wordpress theme for my niche on bass fishing. When I did a search for bass fishing wordpress themes I found a few but not to fond of how they looked or the graphics on them. So I wanted to build my own instead. However I do not know where to really start at building a wordpress theme. I just recently figured out html and can now build any site I like useing html with no problem. When it comes to php css style sites I have no real clue on where to start can any one help thanks.

Or if anyone has a pretty good say four column theme related to bass fishing I could use that would be great to thanks in advance. I am even willing to pay someone to build me a theme if need be. Pm me if you are will to build me the theme and i will let you know what all I want for it. Please if you send me a pm give me a base price. Just a few things I will be adding to this theme are adsense, pyrabang ads, amazon ads, I will have a opt in aweber form on the page and about 6-8 125x125 banner ads. This is just to give you an idea of what I will be needing to do to the site. Thanks you

If I were you, I would bother trying to make it yourself.

I would either, find a decent free one on the web or pay someone to build you one to your specs.

Just get a site from Wordpress.org and modify it. This will be much easier than building from the ground up.

The bass fishing template and or graphics do not exist trust me ... I have a few bass fishing domains that I have tried to find templates for a loooooooooong time .
I like what lucky craft did with the fresh news them for wp

I know what you mean parzlou the graphics are really not that big of a problem. I am pretty good with photoshop was just hoping that I could build my own theme to make it easier to get the blog listed in google for being completely unique. Most of the content I have on there now is going to be a hard task to get google listed. Since they are plr articles I have right too. We all know how much google hates duplicate content and I do not have the time to rewrite the 500 articles I have for this niche. How ever I must say before I started it i did not look to see how much adsense was going to be worth for it and was amazed that for a single click I will gain over 1.20 a click just from adsense. Thats not to mention the lures and other items I will be selling directly from there.

You don't need a new theme built from the ground up. You just need a theme you like and then switch out the graphics. Find a graphic designer who can whip up some graphics for you and then just customize an existing theme.

Have you checked out Artisteer at all? Really great product to create your own templates IMO and if you are ok with graphics you can bring them in easily.

Just this morning, I was schlepping a site together as a joke for a friend and I couldn't believe how difficult is was (and still is) to get a fishing theme.

I'm not picky... the guy's site I'm doing is thefishingguy.net.. and it's just going to be a spoof on the guy because he has hundreds of fishing rods, etc.. and he is quite the celebrity at local garage sales, it seems.

I'm back to doing more Googling... but not having much faith in finding something at this point.

@Pete - There isn't any need to start from scratch, just pick a good modern theme and then design a child theme for it. I really like Justin Tadlock's themes and I use them to design my sites. Here is a post about creating a child theme.
