Hello Fellow Warriors.

I have just created this site: Survival Gear | Information and products for surviving any crisis.

All content is 100% original. Please be honest, but at the same time please don't just say "it sucks". Constructive feedback is appreciated.

Thanks

It is a great website nice layout! completed with amazon affiliate adsense and content!
I think your header is major part in your website that shows in all pages.
The theme is clean but the header is kind of messy 4x4 car and helicopter right in front of it and your website name is above them!
I just think you need a well designed header.

      Hi Cruella,

Are you just saying that because you offer design services.....hehe...

Thank you for you advice. I will check out your design service.

Yes, she does. And lots of similar "offers" I already deleted

(somehow I don't see a viable future here for her)

You need to change the post date on the articles so it will not look like you sat down one day and posted everything. Spread them out to different dates. Also provide a subscription form so visitors can get updated with new articles and information.

Thank you for your help. I can actually remove the dates from the posts, the theme allows for this.

I am going to enable the RSS feed and add social as well.

    Hi,

I'm still new to online marketing, and I'm still getting used to using the Warrior Forum, but came across your post and I have a question.

Would it not be better to have the affiliate links on your site open in new tabs or pages? That way if your visitors click away or close the merchant site page they will still have your site open to continue viewing.

Good Idea... I just changed the affiliate programs to open in a new tab.

Well, lets start with basics - change the floating social signals plugin, with different browsers it will change the locations. With my 17" screen it`s located almost in centre of your site. You have to choose how to monetize the site, you have ClickBank, Adsense and Amazon + more. Don`t use astore as Amazon option. You won`t get sales. Just put the link pointing to Amazon and let the visitors browse Amazon and buy. You won`t make money with Adsense, too many distractions (way too colorful site with so many banners and ads). I think it`s a good start when you make these changes.

    Cheers

Thanks for the info. I am making about 10-13 dollars per day with the AdSense. I agree with the AdSense store, I will remove it and use links in my articles to the products. Not sure how to change the social signals, I have a 17 in screen and it shows just outside the left of the page. Any help with that would be nice.

Nice-looking site. Content is fairly good, although I didn't find it captivating. I must say that I'm not particularly interested in the field, but there's small stuff you could change to make the text flow better. Make your language as direct as possible, and drop words and expressions that don't bring anything.

The site is not terribly slow, but the server could answer a lot quicker. Page elements load fairly fast after the connection has been established. GoDaddy is probably the explanation.

You need more quality backlinks. Yeah I know, it's easy to say.

Drop the forum unless you've got an existing following or reason to expect dozens of users. If there are good survival forums - and I saw one in your backlinks - there's no need for another one, and it's unlikely it'll never really work.

Usually it's a good idea if it's a topic people like to comment on. Might increase commitment to the site.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

      What's your excuse?

Thank you for your suggestions. When you say main image are you talking about the header?

Change the font size? Bigger smaller?

I think you site is really nice. I like the header. I think it is perfect for your niche. I would skip the slider suggestion and just keep what you have. I like your site because it is a clean design and easy to navigate. I read an article or two and they are also pretty good. Comments could be a good thing to get people to come back. I do find there are a lot of spam comments on my blogs. But I have to approve so I don't let any get through. As long as you want to be vigilant and don't mind going through the comments then I think comments are good. They make it feel like a community. Otherwise, no complaints here. Good luck!

I checked it today, the site looks nice to me. A few pointers,

      * Archives - You can leave it hidden until a few months pass (don't want your views to know the site is just created)

      * Store look alright, not so special as it is the default Amazon store.

      * http://www.survival-gear.org/forum-2/ - the top social bar looks broken

      Hope this helps.

Hello, and thank you for your comments. I will hide the archive page. I am having trouble finding a social bookmark program that will allow me to select the specific posts and pages to display them on. Any thoughts on this?

Should I get rid of the store and just place links in the articles to the specific products on Amazon?

I haven't used such plugin with that feature, I have 2 suggestions,
          1) You can edit the code of the plugin and programmatically exclude the social buttons from loading on certain pages.

          2) Use this plugin to prevent certain plugins from loading on certain pages,
          http://wordpress.org/plugins/plugin-organizer/

I haven't tested it, but you can give it a go.

I think that would be better, you can keep the store as well alongside that. Use a unique amazon aff tag for the store and check its conversion, if there is no conversion for months, then you can get rid of it.

    Hello mate,

    Here is my review:

    1) I can't understand what your site is about in the first look. You need to tell people what they should expect. An ideal way achieving this is to change your logo and in the tagline tell people how will they benefit. Are you ready is not informative enough.

    2) Include a contact page and social profiles therefore people will know there is a real person behind the site and trust to your site will increase.

    3) Your website is really slow and you need a better hosting. Check speed from here: Website speed test

    4) Include titles, bullet points, italic, and bold in your text to make them more readable. Big block of texts are mostly ignored by many people.

    Hope this helps,

    Feel free ask more,

Hello thank you for your comments.

      1. Not sure if I agree about the header. Tag line maybe since the site deals with more than just gear.

      2. I have a contact page on the site.

      3. Site speed, it opens fast for me and most people that view it. Yes at times it seems slow it is hosted on Godaddy.com. Could look into having them move it to a different server.

      4. I do have titles, bullets, bold, and italics in my articles. If you read them you would see them.

One thing I did do was increase the font size on the posts to 13 from 11. I also changed the default color on post pages to black instead of the light grey. What did not change was the color of the bullets on the page they remained grey. I have looked all over, but cant find where to change it at. I have to get ahold of woo themes.

    So a few more Questions:

    1. The Splash Page.... Good or Bad?
    2. Anyone know of a social bookmarking program that lets you choose what post/pages it goes on?
    3. I have 4 click bank offers on my site. Two of which offer similar products. Depending on the product one site has advantages over the other. Both are good. Should I just use one of them or keep both? here are the two links, let me know what you think:
    http://www.mypatriotsupply.com/?Click=92557
    http://www.nitro-pak.com/

    4. also have an amazon store. Should Just use amazon instead of the click bank offers or not use Amazon?

    Any thoughts on this matter?

    Thanks again.

If you look at the forum page I have at the top of the page the social bookmarks do not format correctly there.

Splash pages are generally for introductory videos, lead capture forms or special messages that need to be seen before entering the website. Aside from those, it would serve you best to show your site without the splash page.

My Patriot Supply Survival Store | Survival Equipment & Survival Items
Freeze Dried Food Supply & Storage | Emergency Preparedness Kits & Disaster Products
Both of those sites have good products and are equal in commissions. To see which one to keep, if not both, use an ad manager that allows in-content linking and click tracking. I prefer Max Banner Ads by MaxBlogPress, but you can use the plugin of your choice.

When offering ClickBank products within the content, you can have your Amazon store in a separate page. They make it easy to add a store to your site by pasting a line of code. That can draw attention to both avenues of products.
