Hi fellow Warriors,

This is my first website, just launched in December.
Site: Muscle and Burgers

Please take a look and let me know what you think.

...the template is simple and I am working on fixing the container sizing, but maybe it's too simple in general.

Edit: Recently made some adjustments: Made background color pale green and revised slogan.

Some of my concerns:
1) In your opinion, does this design and language speak to our target audience: age of 23 to high 30's, independent, young adults interested in getting fit.
2) Too many articles on homepage (too much to scroll down)

If you have any comments, suggestions, or advice it would be of help to me.

Much appreciated,
David

Hi, I just visited your website, it's look that your website width is too wide, I have slide to the right side to view another part of your website and it is not comfortable to did that.

      Hi,
the website looks good, but like upinflames said you have to slide right to see the whole website, it would be good if it would fit to the screen. And about the articles on homepage I don't think there are too many of them. But in general this website looks very cheap made. If you want to attract more people to it, I would suggest doing something with it looks. I'm not a web designer, so can't tell what's missing but it really looks cheap from my point of view.

I'd recommend getting an obvious lead gen form up. Building a list as soon as you can when you're getting some traffic.

    Thanks for the feedback.

inazuman and Ignas LT - Im currently working on fixing the container sizing so it fits to any screen size. I will definitely be correcting that.

Ignas LT - can you tell me what you think looks cheap. I'd like to know the specifics. Is it the banner that you don't like or the blocky content area... I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I am also not a web designer or graphic designer, just doing my best.
P.S. I't' a blog site, so I hope it would feel more blog-y and light, not too generic and corporate.

Thanks for taking a look! Any other comments and suggestions would help me get a feel for what I am doing right or wrong. Thanks all!

Thanks Verena, I know! I'm embarrassed I don't have one up yet.

I was too caught up on creating a valuable resource content to offer first, but at this point just having the option to subscribe is elementary.

    On this weekends to-do.

Yes, do it when you have time. The sooner the better... you're in a niche with some decent merchants to promote ;-)

All of your images in your posts are stretched, so they are not sized right. Are you using very small images or what?

Your theme is very plain. Not sure I like it much. Woothemes has some free ones that look better to me and of course, there are plenty of commercial ones.

Your site seems to be about building muscle so I'd rather see more muscle articles on the front page rather than recipes.

I think it looks quite nice. The color combination looks a bit dated to me: brown titles and muted yellow background are not too fresh. You should fix the stretched images on the front page, which should be easy to do.

Fairly good content, and I guess it's a hot niche.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

Very nice looking blog, some good information being shared. One thing that you might want to add is an article title widget to the top (under the header but above the first article snippet) so that someone hitting the page can instantly click through to an article of choice, without having to scroll.

Sbucciarel - Agreed, the images are a major weakness of my site. I wouldn't want to return to a site with difficult to see graphics or sloppy images. I'm working on correcting the sizing for all articles. Thanks for bringing it up.

Also thanks for getting me on track with my content schedule. I'm going to be testing frequency and ratio of fitness vs food (going for 1:1 or 1 fitness:2 food). I definitely agree with keeping the site current with a fitness post at all times.

Nettiapina - Thanks for the kind words. A brighter color scheme may grab attention more and build excitement better than my current dim colors. Continuous work in progress!

Jeffery Moss - good idea. I might add a recent posts or coming soon section on the right div.

Verena - Got the subscribe box up. Thanks for the push.

Thanks all for checking out my little fitness site and for all the suggestions.

Nice looking website. One issue I'm experiencing is when I hover the mouse over menu items there is some jumping/flickering going on in the white sections (posts and sidebar together), which is little disturbing. It happen with google chrome (running on win 7 pc) only, no issue in firefox.

    I am your target audience...

The advise that I would give is to drive more social interaction to your page. Get people to your Facebook page prominently. (Logos and banners advertising your FB fan page, ago the moment there is a small widget on the sidebar that I had to search for, it didn't stand out)

Most people will stumble across this page and forget about... Driving them to your Facebook page and getting them to like your page will enable you interact more with your target audience and drive them back to your blog regularly.

You target audience spend most of their days on Facebook.

Secondly, some type of opt in (in fact this is more important). Get people on a list which will a able you to send subscribers tips, recipes and offers to monetise your blog...
