Wordpress linking issue

Hi guys,

How do I fix it when I set a button on my wordpress theme to go to samplesite.com but it instead go to a page not found on my website.

It looks like this: mydomain.com/events/samplesite.com

I want it to be just samplesite.com

I attach an image of what this looks like.

    You should NEVER start a URL like you did in your post above! NEVER!

    Normal urls start with
    http:// and not with www or example.com

    Not having the http:// part at the beginning of your links - the browsers interpret it as a page or folder on your site where the link is.
