Holy S*#* why is it so hard just to get a free, WP membership site set up?

All I want is a landing page with a button that links to a register page that LOOKS THE WAY I WANT IT TO (NOT WP PAGE OR ANY OTHER BS PAGE). I want it to look nice and clean and have the fields I WANT THE FORM TO HAVE.

After they sign up they are taken to a page I WANT to take them to. A thanks for signing up page would be nice. Still on my site, but I just don't want them to see any of the content on the site yet.

Then they log into a page that LOOKS THE WAY I WANT IT TO! One that I can customize...

THEN, and only then, do they get taken to the Member's Home page where they can access the content I CHOOSE TO SHOW THEM!

When they are done, they can log out by CLICKING ON THE LOG OUT BUTTON!

Or, if they don't want to have an account any more, they can CANCEL THEIR ACCOUNT.

WHY IS THIS SO FREAKING DIFFICULT!!!!!

In today's modern WP society why is this not possible?

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

Then try looking into a different CMS. There are tons of threads on why WP is the best CMS yet most posts in this section are for WP issues. Not many on Joomla or Drupal. Go figure.

Statistically, this makes sense given that WordPress is 261% more popular than Drupal and 796% more popular than Joomla... More users around, more users to complain...

Anyway, WordPress is first and foremost a blogging system. It has expanded beyond this, sure. But you're trying to make it into a membership site, something it's not originally designed to do. Not only that, you're trying to initially take users off of the site, which WordPress can accurately assume that most users are not going to do.

There are plugins that can do exactly what you want, and combined with a developer who can customize the system to your needs and integrate it properly with your theme (i.e. making it look the way you want), it will work how you want. However, WordPress does not have a magic button that says, "click here if you want a sign up form that takes users away from the website, brings them back, shows them content, then allows them to cancel their account."

Just ain't going to happen. In today's modern WP society, your system is perfectly possible, but it's not going to happen out-of-the-box and certainly not without substantial know-how.

Why? This isn't a WP issue. This is a plugin dilemma. I love WP and will continue to use it.

I take it you don't use WP then?

What do you use? Why is it better?

It is always a user issue... never "WP issue"

You didn't even mention which of the many membership plugins are you using - yet you angrily demand an answer for your rant!

It is not enough to "love" WP. If a person wants to customize it (and all your "I WANT..." tirades were about customizing) the person needs to learn a lot about using WP and the chosen membership plugin.

Did you ask for support from the plugin author?

I suggest you rant at home - not in this forum.

Here you can ask for help and if you describe your specific issue, knowlegeable people will reply.

If you want to start a personal argument... you may end up with a deleted thread

I use Joomla. Why is it better? The correct question is what functions do I need. I need the following features:
        • Event ticketing and management
        • Social Networking
        • ECommerce
        • Subscription management
Those are just a few components I'm utilizing in one site.

I guess if you started out by asking for help instead of shouting out your frustrations, instead of reacting to your ranting and screaming, people would have taken a look at the specifics of your problem and you might have gotten help.

Perhaps you might take a step back and describe your setup (without the cloaked expletives) and the exact problem as you see it and start a new thread.

I see that you're using a lot of CAPS when you type. Just remember that when editing themes or other PHP files everything is case sensitive. That could be your problem

    For instance, <?php get_sidebar(); ?>

is not the same as <?PHP GET_SIDEBAR(); ?>
