What image width is the maximum recommendable in 2014?

I am going to upload lots of images into some wordpress posts.

My theme supports 1024 pix wide images in a post, but will it look good on most devices that are available?

Any input is appreciated!

    If theme is responsive, it will look good. Image width will adopt to content area, which will adopt to the viewport (device size screen). So, no worries.
    Anyway, test it. Upload few different images, and see for yourself.
