Honest Review Wanted Please

Hi everyone,

I'm after a review of new website at:

Bill's Online Videos

In particular I want your opinion on the following:

1. Font color. The color of the font was pre-set in the
CSS style sheet that came with the website design.

At first I liked it, but now I think it may be hard for some
people to read. I've always been told to use Black on White,
so I have gone against that here.

2. The graphics; not the mini-site graphics, the others on
the page. Do you think there are too many?

Any other comments or suggestions would be gratefully
appreciated too

Thanks in advance

    Hey Bill:

I think the site looks good, very easy to read. Personally I don't think the graphics are overdone.

Two things. First, if you are going to have a membership site, you should definitely add an affiliate program, and include ability to be an affiliate as an additonal bonus and income opportunity.

Second, imho I think your sales page needs to do better as far as benefits...don't keep spending money on info products month after month... I do that for you...I skimmed, so if I missed that and it is there sorry. For me, the initial you can finally make money just doesnt connect with the offer. Admittedly I am jaded.

It's great that you are taking action to create your own membership with these videos.

    Good luck
    Robyn

      Hi Robyn

Thanks for taking the time to go over my site and especially
      for your comments

The membership DOES have an affiliate program, but it's only
visible once a person joins. I'm using Easy Member Pro but
can't work out how to set it up for NON paying members.
Maybe I will need to create a separate affiliate program
outside of EMP, specifically for this purpose..

Your second suggestion for the benefits is also something
that I will get to work on.

      Thanks again Robyn

        Hey Bill:

I'm not sure you will get that much help from non-members as affiliates on a new membership site like this anyway, to make it worth extra effort to set it up that way.

I have seen people add the ability to promote as an affiliate as a "Bonus"

        You can say something like:

As one of my paying members, not only will you get access to all my bells and whistles, saving you hundreds or even thousands of dollars every month...but you will have the opportunity only available to members to promote it and make $xx each and ever month.

It's almost like having your own membership site, with the benefits of recurring monthly payments, without the hassles of setting it up yourself.

(very rough wording...but I am sure you get the point)

        Good luck
        Robyn

You just need to figure out your target audience. If this was an AARP site, I'd say your font color must change.

However, if your target audience is likely to be in the 18-45 range and have half-decent eyes (even with glasses) and not be looking at the site on an old $75 CRT monitor in a damp basement without lighting and a red blanket over their heads, you should be fine.

The current general font color allows you to pinpoint "notice points" by simply using a darker shade and not other colors (saving red, whatever for huge points)--all without completely shaking up the reader.

And since it's on a white background with a lighter side background, it helps to enhance the brightness of the text. If you were to change the side background to say black or something darker, the text color would darken, which could be an issue.

So, I think it's working fine.

Of course, I'd rather delete the whole letter and put a video in its place, but that's another discussion.

    Hi James

Thanks for your observations and comments. I think I will
leave the font color as is for now and if I get any
    complaints, I'll change it then.

As for the video, I agree with you that one at the top
of the page would be nice, but I don't think you could
replace the whole page with a single video...could you?

Maybe once the site is up and running and a few sales start
coming in, we will have that discussion

    Thanks again

    Hi Bill,

I have seen MANY ugly sales pages and I"m happy to say....yours is not one of them! Looks very clean, easy to read. The graphic quality is lacking a TAD, resolution.

BUT if increasing quality affects loading time, then I'd keep as is.

Very nice. I sound like a broken record here, but TEST then tweak.

When my company does design, we often give clients the 1st draft, which is the ugly and less clean draft. More often than not, the 1st draft does better, so you NEVER know. Test and test some more

    Be well!

      Hi Ashley

LOL ...you had me worried then, I started to read the first line and when I got to the UGLY Sales pages part, I thought ""Oh No, here we go"

An interesting membership site. The fonts too faint. It's really straineous for older people to read. Maybe it's time for me to change my specs. I've checked your price, quite expensive to me.

Not sure if it was mentioned but if you want to rank a little better for natural search, you need to work on your title tag as that will help some.

You have Bill's Online Videos as your first title tag phrase so if many people are searching for Bill's Online Videos then you're all set, if not, you should change it to your main keyword phrase and then use that phrase throughout your content.

      Good luck.

    Hi everyone

Thank you for all of your comments, they are very much
appreciated and I will give some consideration to them all

The font is something that I am tossing back and forth,
change it, don't change it...and eventually I'll make up my
mind. At the moment the votes seem to be pretty even

I would also like to reply to the one comment about it being
    to expensive.

I did a lot of research on the price and there are sites out
their that charge the same amount and you only get One PLR
Video Series a month...that's it, nothing else.

For the same price my members will get the ONE PLR Video
series each month, plus two Bonus PLR Video series when
    they join.

They also get access to watch ALL the other Video series in
the back office (currently 13 Video series all a minimum of
6 videos each). This LIBRARY of videos is just going to grow
    each month.

There are also over 100 '5 Minute' Videos on a wide range of
topics, like creating callouts in Camtasia, adding a PayPal
button to your site, that kind of thing that will help
    Newbies.

So personally, I think the price is very reasonable, but
again, you are entitled to your opinion and I thank you for
    it

As for the web design, it was done by another Warrior and I
couldn't be more happy with his work.

Thanks again everyone, you have all been great

      Bill,

I really like the site appearance. I believe that you will want to tweak the sales page over time. Using some split testing will tell you if this is the case. On the sales end, I would consider the fact that you have over 100 videos at 5 minutes. The first thing I believe you want to do is get the customer in the door. By setting up multiple levels of membership such as a free member and a paid members area, you can get the customer in the door, you now have their contact info for future business. Next after they have viewed your 2 videos you are going to leave them wanting more. That is when they upgrade to a paid membership. You can give paid and free members the opportunity to make money from referrals. I am sure you would not mind if someone came in as a free member and sent you 10 paying customers.

These are just my thoughts. Over all Great Looking Site and I don't see the issue with the fonts and colors. Maybe in a couple of years I will understand the issues.

        Hi Will

        Great suggestions thank you

As for the sales copy, this was really my first attempt at
such a large project. I have built many websites but nothing
like this. I KNEW that there would be some things that would
need changing, but my main goal was to get the site UP their
        first.

I agree with you on the Free membership too and I have a
5 Hour (26 Videos) Affiliate Marketing course, that I
could make available to Free members, to get them in the
        door.

I was going to host the course on my blog, because I saw a
video by Frank Kern the other day saying you are more likely
to get someone to click a link to your blog...than your
website. But you are right, I need to get people into the
door and I think this video course will do just that.

I am starting to draw people to the site by posting one
of the 5 minute videos on my blog each week, as well as a
written description of the topic. All these link back to the
        main site.

I am also changing the 'theme' of my Mini Ezine to affiliate
Marketing. This will have one Marketing Tip each week, PLUS
one of the 5 Minute Videos in it.

Hopefully all of the above will get people interested in
'more' ...but only time will tell

        Thanks again Will
