Whatever you do make sure that when someone shows you examples of logos they have done, make sure this is the same caliber of logo that they plan on making for you. Logo makers like to show hundred dollar logos as examples then make the costume a five dollar logo. Cheap price cheap logo.

You can make it by yourself if not hire any web designer. Make a professional and well polished logo you need to follow these process
1 : Always make a logo related to your website purpose.
2 : Color of Logo matching with color of your website.
3 : Your logo text and icon will be prominent.
4: In my opinion make your logo always in Adobe Illustrator.
5: Do not use more text in your logo.

You need to hire best logo design company to make your logo professional and perfect because freelancers can design a logo but they can't make it perfect for this purpose you need to hire professionals because logo is just not an image or photo it is the face of your business therefore it should be perfect.

I've used individual designers and logo marketplaces - I much prefer and now solely use designers. I think with a designer whilst you pay more (typically upwards of $1000), you get a better result.

Welcome to the forum Newbie!

A good place to start is here at the Warrior Forum. There are 2 places you can consider...

1.) Warriors for Hire
2.) Wanted: Warriors looking for you

I believe there is a small cost($5) to be listed in each, but well worth it. That's $5 to be listed, plus the cost of the designer. There are places where designers go looking for projects as well. Places like eLance, FreeLancer, oDesk, GetACoder and more. Just go list your projects and you'll receive offers and bids on your logo project.

I would keep it simple and do have some text, but not too much as it gets cloudy and hard to read once it's applied on certain places, like the logo itself, stationary or business cards, etc. Have colors match your site and be relevant and hopefully something memorable for branding.

Be sure you have the number worked out ahead of time as per how many revisions you are allowed when it comes to looking at the proof. Some don't offer any unless you pay more. Some may give you 3 or 5, then pay more. Some offer unlimited until you are satisfied. It helps a lot if you can come up with a color scheme you like and possibly what you want the text to say. Go do a search on Google Images and look for other logos you may like. Give all the above info to the designer you choose and it will get them close on your first proof check instead of them playing a guess with each new revision.
